"They (the EU – RG note ), as they just said, plan to impose restrictions on the purchase of Russian gas, including liquefied gas, in a month, starting March 25th. And a year later, in 2027, further restrictions, up to and including a complete ban.

Now other markets are opening, and perhaps it would be more advantageous for us to stop supplies to the European market right now, move to those markets that are opening, and gain a foothold there," Putin said.

The president noted that there is no political motive behind this idea, since restrictions will be introduced in a month or two anyway. "It would be better to stop now ourselves and move to partner countries and gain a foothold there," the president added. He noted that this is not yet a decision, but "thinking out loud."

"I will definitely instruct the government to work on this issue together with our companies."

More on the inevitable upcoming global energy crisis following on from yesterday's post and the Europeans might be beginning to regret helping Ukraine sink a Russian LNG tanker in the Mediterranean a few days ago.

The geniuses at the EU tried to sanction imports of LNG from Russia years ago but still can’t live without them, so they currently import from Russia, Qatar and the US.

Now Putin is threatening to stop all exports to the EU, and now Qatar has halted all production due to the closure of the Straits of Hormuz, and how long before Trump decides to protect US consumers and bans all exports of LNG, due to the global energy crisis - that he caused.

And where will that leave Europe? (Hint: totally fucked is where)

Moldova has already declared a state of emergency due to an energy shortage.

Can’t wait for the geniuses at the EU to tell us their plan to deal with the obvious crisis coming our way, … *crickets*.

Russia knows that a European country gifted an old submarine to Ukraine and provides intel precisely for attacks on Russian tankers. The submarine pops up and launches drones rather than torpedoes but are just as effective against merchant shipping.

After celebrating the sinking of the Russian ship now the geniuses at the EU are talking of asking Russia to restart full LNG exports to Europe, in response Putin gave an interview saying that he’s maybe not so much into Russia getting Europe out of this self inflicted disastrous bind.

On the Iran war front US officials are now talking of not a 4 day war, or a 4 week war, but now a 100 day war. Turns out that things are not going according to plan, The Iranian govt has not collapsed, the Iranian people have not risen up, and the hundreds, if not thousands, of Iranian missile launch sites around the Straits of Hormuz are not at all so easy to find and take out.

The current US plan is to encourage Kurd proxies who number just a few thousand to invade Iran, which is going to do what? Their other plan seems to be just to bomb the general population into submission, which doesn’t seem to be working either.

Iran’s plan is just to hold on and let the energy crisis do its work, which it will.

i did read somewhere that many countries has issues because of oil, like Australia has oil for 18 days and so on..

e. As of early March 2026, claims that Australia only has 18 days of oil are outdated, although the nation remains heavily reliant on fuel imports and faces significant energy security risks.
Current data as of March 2026 shows the following fuel reserves on hand in Australia:
Petrol: ~36 days
Diesel: ~34 days
Jet Fuel: ~32 days

Trump’s showing even greater degrees of panic as he orders yet another naval carrier group to the Gulf to stand a 1000 miles off like all the other naval vessels to avoid getting struck by Iranian ballistic missiles and drones.

The carriers are too far away for their planes to make any real contribution to the US bombing campaign which is being mainly carried out by quickly depreciating stockpiles of missiles.

That may be the real reason for the new ships being sent. The ships already there can’t resupply anywhere near as those US bases are still under attack and the next closest bases are very far away.

Trump ordered Iran to surrender then the next day said they had surrendered when they actually said the opposite, now he’s ordering ineffective escalation, he’s panicking.

Videos from Israel last night showing that Iranian ballistic missiles are definitely getting through the air defences and causing a lot of damage.

Other US officials are saying the war may now last 100 days but no one is saying what the oil price will be at 100 days of blockade, it will certainly be well over $200 a barrel and all the world’s economies will be on their knees. No sane leader could let that happen, that’s Zelensky level irresponsibility.

Trump has already gone too far to save himself even if he backed away now. Note that Trump has ordered the vice president to stop giving interviews and comments on the Middle East situation which suggests there are some who see the dead end destructive path ahead.

In Ukraine and the Russians are gearing up for their Spring offensive and 1 goal, once they have completed the capture of Konstantinovka, is shaping up to be the encirclement of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.

Note on the ISW map below that west of these 2 cities there is nothing right up to the Donetsk border.

And the 2nd goal looks like being the encirclement of the city of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia oblast and the last obstacle before Zaporizhzhia city itself (in the 2nd ISW map below Orikhiv is named Preobrazhenka).
