This war is simply pointless, sir. Lots of people die at the cost
of minimal gains. The comparison to WW1 is apt.
In stationary battles hundreds of thousands of people
died (e.g. in the Battle of Verdun).

The United States and Israel are waging war on Iran, but why? What are their real goals? Ben Norton explains the imperial strategy to impose US hegemony in West Asia (aka the Middle East), destroy the Axis of Resistance, colonize Palestine, destabilize the revolutionary Iranian government, preserve the petrodollar system, prevent de-dollarization, divide BRICS, and break up the Iran-Russia-China partnership.

Thanks.

Scott Ritter explains that Israel's attacks on Iran and the US support for those attacks are against international law, therefore, those attacks are blatant war crimes and the leaders supporting those attacks are war criminals. With the recent direct US attack on Iran's 3 nuclear sites, Scott's analysis now directly includes the US leader.

Scott Ritter: ISRAEL’S COLLAPSE IS ALREADY HERE

Scott Ritter delivers a powerful and urgent analysis, claiming that Israel is already entering collapse. From nonstop conflict with Iran to mounting internal instability and global isolation, Ritter explains how the signs of breakdown are no longer warnings—they're reality. What does this mean for the future of the region and the global balance of power?

Interesting take on the US attack, this military expert thinks that the B-2s and their 'bunker busting' bombs were not used but instead it was 36 tomahawk cruise missiles.

Sorry but this post misses the point completely.

As the old quote says, war is the continuation of politics by other means.

And so, when actual politics had failed with the Minsk accords war was the inevitable next step and they all knew it (NATO, Ukraine, Russia), it was no surprise to anyone.

'This war is simply pointless, sir.'
No, the region that is now known as Ukraine is traditionally known as 'the soft under belly of Russia' and has been used as an entry point for conquering armies from the west since, well since forever.

To have NATO with their Ukrainian proxy army situated there complete with bases and nuclear missile silos was to be a deliberate existential threat to Russia, that was the whole point of it.

'Lots of people die at the cost of minimal gains.'
That's the whole point of a war of attrition, the destruction of the opposing army, you don't need to be moving territorially in order to achieve that. In fact it's better not to when dealing with a near peer enemy. So instead you have the opposing army continually coming onto your prepared positions. When 1 side runs out of men then the war is over.

'The comparison to WW1 is apt.'
In WW1 the 2 sides fought on a (more or less) unmoving battle front for 4 years, and then 1 side suddenly run out of men and were forced to capitulate.

And that's how this war is going to end. It is already too late for Zelensky to save the country as a whole and the longer he leaves it the more will be lost until Ukraine becomes totally unviable as a nation state and will be picked apart by it's neighbours.

Of course none of this had to happen but the west assured themselves that once provoked Russia would start a war, and the west would respond with killer sanctions, Russia would break apart internally, and then the NATO trained and equipped Ukraine army would push the rudderless Russian army out.

Didn't work, tough luck.

Zelensky needs to salvage what he can as soon as he can, but he's too pathological to understand reality when he sees it.
