Trump has extremely generously decided to give Iran 1 absolutely last chance to surrender. Same as Rubio offered to Putin a few weeks ago, astonishingly Putin declined that extremely generous offer which followed Zelensky’s 40 days of drone attacks against Russian targets.
You don’t think maybe the Trump admin is persistently misreading these two wars?
Anyway, Trump is still trying to pretend he hasn’t lost in Iran, the war he started, and is still unable to admit it, or at least to just walk away.
Having called off his latest threatened massive strikes against Iran he’s now talking about going back to decapitation strikes of the leadership as if that already didn’t work the last 2 times he tried it.
The Iranian political establishment has real depth and is not just some shallow dictatorship that will topple once the head is cut off, they already proved that - twice. Each time it actually reinforced public opposition to the US attacks as the people rallied around the flag.
The fact that the Trump admin can’t see the blindingly obvious is really disturbing. The fact that they are repeating failure over and over again just makes them all look really stupid.
As for the US supposed planned attack being called off, military analysts were saying it was all BS from the start. They said the necessary refuelling tanker aircraft were not even in position geographically let alone in the air to service strike planes, in fact nothing was actually where it needed to be to stage the type of operation Trump was threatening.
Remember that US air bases in the Gulf had all just been pushed back, first to Jordan and then to Israel after the series of Iranian ballistic missile attacks.
Nothing is going to change here for the US and at some point Trump will have to just walk away, he will claim to have won - destroyed the nuke material etc, whatever.
There is no other option for the US, the longer he stays they greater the humiliation, the US military is just completely unprepared for this type of conflict. Better to walk away now and start the process of military realignment that is so obviously urgently necessary but Trump’s ego just can’t face it.
The US defeat does mean that US power in the region is diminished while Iran’s is increased but in the very near term there is nothing the US can do about that. The US can continue to offer the other Gulf states defence pacts, possibly offering a nuclear umbrella even.
But the sooner this current debacle is over with the better for everyone.

Re: WW3 Countdown
2463Zelensky and Budanov said over a month ago that Ukraine wanted to see the war end before the winter of 2026.
Zelensky told us (and the Russians) he was launching a 40 day drone campaign.
They firstly centred on Russian oil infrastructure, then to cut off Crimea road links, then Russian shipping in the Sea of Azov and finally attacking civilian goods warehouses.
After 40 days Russia would be so damaged that Putin would be forced to sue for peace. That 40 day window closed on Monday.
The drone campaign, though causing some damage, did not cause enough to change the course of the war, rather Russia’s retaliation strikes have sped it up.
That realisation sparked a change of tack by Zelensky who then sacked the heads of defence and military and started to prioritise defence over offense.
So now it's again with the calls for a ceasefire as well as begging Trump for half of the American stockpile of Patriot air defence missiles, he got none, nor any Russian agreement to the ceasefire proposal.
Ukraine looks to be facing a winter with no air defence at all and with Russian drones, missiles and glide bombs stockpiled up to cause devastation to Ukraine’s …, well everything really now that Zelensky has opened the door to a wide range of civilian targets.
Imminent is Putin’s announcement of the expansion of Russian territorial demands now the final battle for the Donbas is commencing. The ship has sailed on Zelensky being able to use the Donbas as a bargaining chip in any future negotiations.
Back to Iran and Trump continues making threats completely unaware that's why there’s no peace. The US is not in the driving seat and the Iranians are determined to make him admit it. This war will end when gas in the US costs $6 a gallon forcing Trump to finally swallow his pride and walk away.
In my last post I said Trump didn't have the military equipment in place for his threatened attack last weekend. It’s insane now that the US has just parked up 60 refueling tanker aircraft on an airfield in Israel well within Iranian missile range, and posted pictures of them on social media.
Military analysts are stunned and unsure if this is incompetence, bait, or quantum level dimensional chess.
Why hasn’t Trump already just walked away? Because the US MIC and the neocons and the Israeli lobby actually want and need the US committed to another ‘forever war’ (10 years at least).
Because then Israel, not Iran will become the regional superpower, the MIC gets boosted tax payer funding forever after, and the neocons think it will at least slow the loss of US global hegemony.
And unfortunately these are the only people Trump is listening to.

2466How to prevent the EU's economic and social breakdown?
Are there any real alternatives besides war?
‘War is politics by other means’ (Clausewitz) meaning war is just an extension of politics, or more precisely, failing policies. And if there is one thing that the EU leadership demonstrates on a regular basis its failing policies.
And so ‘ending the Ukraine war would be a disaster for Europe’ according to Fyodor Lukyanov, an influential Russian foreign-policy thinker, and is the reason why Putin sees talks as pointless.
And here we are, the EU wants to switch the economy to a war footing but can't because the people are not convinced as to the threat and danger (rightly) in spite of 12 years of constant anti-Russian propaganda.
What to do? Wait, drones can replace soldiers (they can't) so the EU can ramp up drone production and send them to Ukraine to fight the Russians with absolutely no risk to the EU or downside whatsoever (- ah, no).
The reality is that the Russians are perfectly able to preemptively attack the EU given all the provocation and constant EU talk of war with Russia and the Russians know that the US has already warned the EU that they will not come to the rescue if the EU acts without caution.
Not only that but the Russians know that the US is not actually militarily capable of staging a major intervention in Europe any time soon.
The US seems to have abandoned politics and diplomacy altogether and now just goes straight to military action, they do have 800 military bases around the world after all so need to get their money’s worth I suppose, and hence if you have a hammer every problem looks like a nail and no need for diplomats at all.
Shame really coming after Kissinger and James Baker who were world renown diplomats in their day.
Anyway, the US is increasingly needing to financially bail out its allies, first Oman, now Japan who also hold huge amounts of US treasury bills. Bessant used US reserves of Euros this time to prop up the sinking Japanese economy who imports 97% of their energy needs and who were receiving oil from the US strategic reserve until recently when the US turned off the tap due to the bottom of the barrel rapidly coming into sight.

2468Zelensky’s latest series of asks;
That the US starts firing missiles at Russian missile launchers, and so therefore bring the US into direct conflict with the Russian military as opposed to just the Russian oil infrastructure.
And that the US starts to shoot down Russian satellites of their new GPS system that is allowing the Russians to hit Ukrainian targets using FPV drones with an Internet link deep into Ukraine.
The actual ask is obviously that the US gets directly involved in this war with Russia. Something Zelensky has been trying to do since the start of the conflict.
That Zelensky is only asking instead of the usual demands is a clue as to how likely he thinks it is that he will get a positive response but it's just the start.
These latest pronouncements are a look into the future. When the Donbas falls and the Ukrainians are out of defences as well as the men to shelter in them.
The conflict will then turn from a war of attrition into a war of manoeuvre. The Russians will be ‘locked and loaded’ to borrow Trump’s latest term.
Tanks will be seen again on the battlefield, towns will be swamped and Zelenky will crank up the cries (from his house in France) of humanitarian disasters and for the love of God won't the west finally come and save the poor defenceless Ukrainian people.
Back to the present and on the battlefield big problems are developing for the Ukrainians. Without air defence Russian attack aircraft are coming to within 7km of the frontline from where they are able to launch their really big fab 3000 glide bombs onto Ukrainian positions.
The 3000kg explosive warheads are in a completely different league to not just the common battlefield FPV drones which carry an artillery shell (7kg explosive), but also to Russian missiles that carry 500kg warheads.
Faced with this the best Zelensky can come up with is to just ask for a ceasefire again which really isn’t going to cut it as far as the Russians are concerned.
