waiting for someone else who knows more about it to pitch in.
Obviously Israel has wanted a war with Iran for some time but they wanted the US to be involved too.
Trump refused to join in though didn't stop the Israeli strike on the nuclear sites and military leaders.
Now we know why Israel needed those 20,000 air defence missiles that were going to go to Ukraine.
Messy.. Iran and Israel blasting each other but at least not many dead so far just 2... dunno and dont care tbh i cant keep up with all these conflicts anymore lol
These are just words for now. Israel has not allowed Iran
to have nuclear weapons that it could use. Unlike South Korea
and Japan, which together with the US did not prevent North Korea
from producing nuclear weapons, which country now does not have
to deal with any external pressure.
Israel and Persia are two very old countries with great traditions.
Their conflicts date back even several thousand years,(*)
even though they are not even neighbors now.
As for the impact on other conflicts - oil prices will rise,
which will help the Russian economy, and on the other hand
Iran's military aid may significantly decrease. What will happen
next is probably hard to predict, but Trump already sees
that bringing peace to various trouble spots around
the world is not such a simple matter...
(*) EDIT: It's interesting that the situation between
Israel and Persia was much better in Biblical times
(e.g. those of the Persian king Cyrus). This makes
the modern escalation of the conflict all the more sad.

Uh tat's pretty much declaring war on US, right?
Yup and whats worse is they already planted sleeper cells in major cities during Biden administration
Trust me Iranian evil doers deserve every last bomb on their head, Unfortunately when gas prices go up they will blame Israel not the Iranian evil leaders not saying all Iranians are bad
The EU/UK bet the farm on the US winning this conflict in Ukraine against Russia and now the time is drawing near when they will have to pay up on a losing bet.
Not only is NATO in danger of being disbanded but the bill due for western Europe could well pull the whole house of cards down.
At a minimum will be dramatic reversals of narrative resulting in a clearing out of the old leadership.
But there is also considerable worry that the cost of getting it all so badly wrong will be so high as to bring on bankruptcy and collapse for whole countries which may well bring down the whole EU project as well.
Energy costs across the region are already 3x higher because of the sanctions and high energy use businesses are already in full flight away from the region, secondary firms will follow. Persistent high inflation and high unemployment will be the consequence.
Germany has ordered increased miliary spending but, same as the UK, has not allocated any actual money towards it. And for the same reason as the UK, the Germans just don't have the money.
What these politicians are putting off are the huge spending cutbacks on social services needed to pay for all their pro-war rhetoric. They are unpopular enough as it is.
So the money for Ukraine will come to an end, the rhetoric for building a huge new military industry will soften and western Europe will continue it's slow, steady decline into irrelevance.
Day 2 of bodies exchange yesterday.
On day 1 Russia handed over 1500, Ukraine handed over 27.
2nd day Russia handed over 1200, Ukraine handed over zero.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has said US military aid will be sharply reduced in future though did not say stopped. There is still no mention of Trump going to congress to ask for more aid money for Ukraine. Presumably there is still aid left from the Biden era yet to be delivered.
Commentators are noting Russian territorial gains are now around 3-5km per day even in the most difficult areas of the battlefront, this is much increased over time and shows a steadily, decreasing resistance by the Ukrainians.
As Russia slowly move further into Ukraine it is increasingly clear that Ukraine have lost the 4 oblasts and not even with NATO assistance can they be regained.
Also of note is that the Ukraine long range drone offensive into Russian territory has come to an end. At it's height Ukraine were firing several hundred drones a night but clearly do not have the production capacity to sustain the attack.
Though there was some depletion in the Russian air defences there was no follow up attack with western cruise missiles such as Taurus because, although Merz was keen, Trump said no.
Trump and Putin phone call to talk about the Israeli/Iran conflict. Also they are expecting the Istanbul talks to continue after prisoner and bodies exchanges completed June 21st.
Israel/Iran
Israel has completely depleted Iranian air defences and created a corridor over Iran for it's attack planes but it's not sure if they have the fire power to destroy the underground bunkers used for Iran's nuclear programme.
Netanyahu has once again called for US participation in the attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities.
Trump said on social media that the US was not involved in the conflict and threatened Iran with retaliation if Iran attacked any US bases.

Big news day thanks Ogee. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse huh. And just like that, everybody has truly forgotten about Ukraine now.

Yes, and the timing is interesting.
You have to wonder why just now do the Israelis decide to launch a big attack on Iran, and without the US president onboard.
The Ukrainians are looking very shaky, many doubt they can last much longer and the US military industrial complex certainly wouldn't want a big money spinning war going out before they'd got the next one started.
Just who did whisper in Netanyahu's ear that now was the right time to kick off, it wasn't Trump, maybe the US neocons?
