Interesting updates from Eastern Europe. Putin has signed a decree to allow the Russian army to increase in size by 1 million taking the army up to 2.5 million though there is no actual mobilisation as yet.

And we see why the EU is panicking. Having agreed € 90 billion for Ukraine over 2 years they find out that after 6 months Zelensky will run out of money to pay his soldiers within weeks.

Which is why there are suddenly renewed efforts by the EU to steal the Russian frozen assets. They are seeking to get all the EU countries instead of just Belgium to shoulder the financial fallout when the Russians take them to court and win but even spread out over 27 countries €200 billion will be hard to swallow given the EU is in a dire financial situation.

Coming into winter and with only the US to supply natural gas the big EU countries only have around 100 days of reserves except the UK which has a lot less. Note that Trump is already thinking of a diesel export ban and a gas one might not be far behind.

Meanwhile the people in Europe are waking up to see this great 25 year globalist neoliberal experiment has led to nothing but deindustrialisation and financial ruin while our streets are overrun with illegal migrants who are unable to read and write in their native language let alone the country they landed in.

But one thing you can rely on is that the neolibs will never admit they got it all wrong, they will always double down so get ready for a war with Russia.

In the Ukraine conflict proper and the Russians are increasingly targeting important infrastructure in the center of Ukrainian cities showing improving targeting likely due to the Russian analogue of Starlink internet communication allowing drone operators to guide their jet powered drones which are now more akin to cruise missiles right up to the target building.

TV stations, internet providers, data centres, comm towers and goods warehouses are all being systematically destroyed while there is no air defence even for Kiev.

As I have said repeatedly, this war should have ended at least 2 years ago but our glorious western leaders wanted to see just how far they could force the issue and this is where we get to. The Russians are, understandably, no longer interested in any kind of negotiation and will take half of Ukraine leaving a non-functional rump state that will be divided up by Poland and Romania.

Interesting film footage came out recently of 20-30 Columbian troops fighting for Ukraine staging a literal human wave attack over open ground towards Russian positions, desperate times indeed.

Why war? Because it’s a last ditch attempt by the EU and the US to save the EU org and NATO org and US hegemony.

The EU and NATO served a purpose in their time but when their usefulness disappeared (free trade throughout Europe and collapse of communist Soviet Union) they embarked on expansionism as their sole reason for being.

At the same time the EU and US grew massive debts under US hegemony and the benefits associated with running the global systems like the US $ as reserve currency, and the Eurodollar system, and the Petrodollar system, and the global interbanking system. The rest of the world using these convenient systems was reason for them to hold western debt.

When the west started weaponising these systems other countries sought a way out building alternative institutions decreasing the need to hold US dollars and EU Euros in the form of interest paying US and EU treasuries/bonds.

Back in the day western people were keen to show the advantages of social freedom in a world heavy with communism and religious authoritarianism.

They set an example and the world followed and billions were lifted out of poverty as a result. The US became an icon and world leader which offered them the opportunity to borrow heavily and spend more than they made, allowing a better lifestyle than they could actually afford.

The world converting from hegemony to multipolarity would not need be an unsurmountable hurdle apart from the enormous debt that will come due for the US and western Europe, hence the struggle to avoid that outcome.

More fun facts on energy, the US is the world's leading producer of oil so little wonder they don’t want or need the Iran war to end.
Meanwhile the EU paid an extra €113 billion for the same amount of natural gas as they paid a year ago, and of course the US is now Europe’s main supplier.

So all in all the US is doing really well out of both these wars, wars that the US could end tomorrow if they really wanted.

And recent Fed M2 money supply in circulation figures shows that the Fed is printing, all be it very quietly. So plenty of extra cash for the US stock market which is riding high and never mind the bond market, for now at least as the US 10 year yield glides past 5.3%.

As mentioned in a previous post 82% of the stocks listed in the S&P500 are actually down on the year while all the top 10 stocks other than Berkshire Hathaway are AI companies. So the S&P looks great forever reaching higher but actually most of it is under water.

US PCE inflation came in at 3% yesterday so still above Fed target but still some time to go before the oil crisis seeps through, note that the 2020 Covid disruption took until mid 2021 to start to show up in official data though everyone else saw it coming long before.

Meanwhile consumer confidence data continues to plunge, the powers that be need this data because the decision makers are so distant from real people they actually have no idea what life is actually like for the average person.

The data also shows that people are still spending though they are trading down and stocking up on basics while prices are still relatively low.

Trump is of course screaming that the Fed should be lowering interest rates, not hiking (BTW NFP tomorrow).

Update on the 2 ongoing wars and in the Gulf Trump has rejected Iranian’s updated MOU which really was just a speeded up timetable.

Trump claims that many ships are using the Oman passage of the Straits but there are suggestions that Iran is receiving payment and is attacking only those who have not paid.

So there is a limited shuttle service though using a small number of ships and then ship to ship transfers on the other side in the sea of Oman.

However much is getting through it is not enough to bring the price of oil back down to previous levels.

Trump is waiting and building up missile stocks while threatening something big following the US midterm elections while Iran is saying ‘bring it on, we're ready’.

Trump is still draining US oil reserves to prop up other countries which is helping to hold price steady and though the US is the world's largest producer it doesn't produce enough to prevent actual global shortages which when they come is when we will see big price rises.

Iran’s deadline for US acceptance of the new MOU just ran out which the Iranians said would trigger a new approach of attack first rather than the retaliatory only policy it has employed up until now.

In Ukraine the battle for the remaining cities in the Donbas continues with Ukrainian counterattacks trying to prevent a huge Russian cauldron forming around the Kramatosk-Slovansk conurbation.

Ukrainian troops sent to reinforce the counterattacks are creating space for Russian advances in Sumy and Kharkiv.

The one-sided drone wars continue with nearly all Ukraine's drones being intercepted while Ukraine's much depleted air defense is unable to bring down many of the new fast jet powered Russian drones.

Half of Ukraine's F-16 fighters that were mostly being used as drone and missile interceptors are in Belgium for maintenance that should take 4 weeks for each plane but is actually taking 40.

Russia continues to attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure and recently demonstrated a new ability of drones able to take down the huge electric power transfer pylons.

This will enable the disruption of power coming from Ukraine's 3 nuclear power stations with the initial aim seemingly to cut all power to the capital and forcing the Zelensky government to relocate to the west of Ukraine.

And then, in response to western Europe's constant babbleling about war with Russia and threats to attack Russia’s isolated western region of Kaliningrad Russia sent a message to all foreign embassies to pass on to their respective heads of state, that if the west blockaded or attacked Kaliningrad in any way there would be an immediate military response including if necessary the use of nuclear weapons.

This seems to have done the trick as NATO head Rutte said that of course no such action against Kaliningrad was being planned in spite of several episodes of just such planning having been reported in the western media.

And in other news another US carrier group is heading to the middle east.

China has suspended all fuel (including diesel) exports.

And in the US it’s been decided that Skynet AI needs to have a kill switch incorporated into its programming to prevent any possibility of the software going rogue and attacking mankind, so that’s all sorted out then.
