You would expect something if the Futures markets thought Trump was about to impose 500% tariffs on China and India or sanctions on Russian oil;

Haha, Trump gives Putin 50 days to make a deal ... or else!!!!!!!

TRUMP: SEVERE TARIFFS ON RUSSIA IF NO DEAL IN 50 DAYS

TRUMP THREATENS TO IMPOSE 'SECONDARY' TARIFFS ON RUSSIA

The only Tariffs the US can place is for the Uranium Russia sells to the US, so Trump threatens to sanction the ... err ... US.

As for the secondary sanctions for buying Russian oil, China and India have already told Trump to fuck off so, ... yeah, that's not going to work.

Billions worth of military equipment to go to Ukraine that the US doesn't have and the Europeans will pay for it with money they don't have. Brilliant.

FFS, seriously, he has nothing.

'Escalate to de-escalate' (famous last words)

But Trump's 'bone crushing' 'sledgehammer' threats to force Putin into an unconditional ceasefire turn out to be nothing at all.

Trump will continue to supply weapons as they slowly drip off the production line in such low numbers it won't make any difference. But now they'll be delivered via NATO.

Trump foolishly thinks that the EU really is going to spend €800 Billion on defence and Trump wants a big slice of it lol.

There is no promise of any more money to Ukraine at all
(they got $61 billion last year and were asking for $100 billion for this year).

There's the threat of secondary sanctions that China and India don't care about.

There's the threat of long range missiles that Russia doesn't care about.

There is nothing there because the US and NATO have nothing left to threaten Putin with.

More weapons to Ukraine, empty threat. The US are already down to giving whatever comes off the production line. Ukraine needs a thousand patriot type missiles, not 20 a month.

Don't know why Trump thinks Putin needs 50 days to think about this 'sledgehammer' threat. There is no threat, nothing has changed except Ukraine gets no money this year. PS, Ukraine can't survive without money.

Russia is facing the same dilapidated Ukrainian army as before that's receiving woefully inadequate supplies from the west and the country, that needs 4 billion a month to keep running, is getting sporadic one-off donations of a few hundred million here and there.

And all the while the most critical problem is completely ignored. Ukraine has run out of men and is reduced to recruiting by force 80% of those currently serving on the frontline.

The Ukraine army must have as many men standing behind their frontline troops with guns just to stop the mass desertions.

This ridiculous game is not sustainable but you have Trump and Rutte pretending all's well on the eastern front and Putin must be quaking in his boots. Seriously.

Putin will obviously just march on regardless and ignore this jabbering nonsense.

Zelensky hopes that longer range missiles such as the US JASSM with a 500 mile range might make a difference but none of the western missiles used so far have made any impact on Russian's extensive air defence systems.

So the bottom line is nothing will change on the battlefronts. Russia will carry on and there is still nothing Ukraine or the west can do to stop them.

What has changed is that this has become Trump's war, he's now fully signed up and invested in it. Now he's dreaming of all that lovely money he's going to get from the piss broke EU and UK lol.

Trump won't be able to back out now, his ego won't allow the admission of a loss. So there's little hope of any negotiated peace which means there's little hope of Ukraine surviving this.

And when the fighting in Ukraine stops there'll be a new permanent state of cold war between NATO and Russia.

But this time around it's Russia who'll have strong partners and the NATO countries who'll be in a steady state of decline.

I've said it a dozen times, we're being led by total morons.

Meanwhile on the battlefronts, Ukrainian defence lines are collapsing in strategically important places like the city of Pokrovsk as Russia moves more troops forward.

And remember when types like Victoria Nuland and Lyndsay Graham told us a while back about the shock and awe soon to be visited on Russia, I wonder what ever happened with that?

Re: WW3 Countdown

NATO's Mark Rutte has made a deal with Trump to buy billions of dollars worth of weapons to give to Zelensky.

The slight snag is that NATO only has a minor operational budget, it doesn't have any budget to buy weapons, and the EU/UK don't have any money to buy more weapons.

If they did, they would have already done so, if there were any weapons to buy, which there aren't.

So WTF is going on?

More bullshit basically. But the important thing is that they can all slap each other on the back, hugs and kisses all round, and walk away pretending a good job well done for another 50 days.

Pure pantomime masquerading as foreign policy.

And where will Ukraine be in 50 days? Not in a better place that's for sure.

And everyone by now knows that Trump's deadlines are meaningless.

Everyone is talking weapons and who's going to be paying for them (no one apparently) but what Ukraine really needs now is men and money, money to pay for social services, pensions, salaries and all that really useful stuff.

Not a word.

The west's plan always depended on a Russian failure rather than a Ukrainian victory and so the game continues while Russia is still standing, no matter how hopeless that plan might now be, none of these decision makers in the west is bothered if Ukraine falls.

If Ukraine falls there's always Romania or Moldova or Bulgaria, the list is endless.

The end goal is to preserve western hegemony and no sacrifice is too great.

NATO itself should have been disbanded at the end of the Soviet Union, the threat it was created for. Instead it expanded and started looking to make new enemies to justify it's continued existence.

The truth that the EU/UK would be better off in a multipolar world rather than as a US vassal is not even considered, or that the US would also be better off than in it's current state of decline. 3 cooperating superpowers (US, China and Russia) could bring enormous wealth to the whole world.

Having watched the Russia Ukraine conflict go on for 3 and a half years the Americans have just figured out that they themselves only have enough missiles to last 8 days in a conventional war, after that they would have to go nuclear. Let that sink in.

Recently both Rubio and Trump repeated the Ukraine propaganda figure that Russia has lost 100,000 troops since the start of the year. Mediazona on the other hand tell us that they can only find evidence for 9,000 lost.

That would help explain the huge shortfall of bodies that the Ukrainians had to hand over in the recent exchange with the Russians.

So no new aid to Ukraine from the US but the US is willing to sell to NATO, as the stuff dribbles off the US production lines, and for them to give to Ukraine … yeah, right.

Reminder that NATO itself doesn't have any money, NATO's Mark Rutte can't buy weapons and Rutte certainly does not dictate the military policy of EU countries.

The EU counties might be full of bravado rhetoric but they have no money and so are just full of bullshit, that's why they need the US to lead so badly.

EU countries are already starting to bail out on Trump's plan to 'sell weapons to NATO'.

France and the Czech Republic have already said NO. EU number 2 Kaja Kallas says 'if Trump wants to get weapons to Zelensky he should just give them'. Merz seems keen but Germany doesn't have the money either.

So no tanks, no Bradleys, no artillery, no shells, no money for Ukraine. Maybe a few air defence missiles, eventually. You have to wonder where Trump's 'aid package' to Ukraine is supposed to take them.

Trump's words did indicate a hope to reduce the hurt to Ukraine and to punish Russia but notably there's nothing about helping Ukraine to any kind of a victory.

As things stand it's possible Trump is just giving Putin 50 days (into September) to force a Ukrainian collapse.

The Ukrainian intel chief Budanov himself some months ago said the situation would become chaotic for Ukraine on the battlefield this coming summer.

The main barrier to a negotiated peace is that Trump still seems to believe that the US has escalation dominance (military and economic) over Russia, hence the continued reliance on threats to Putin. They do not.

Sanctions have been an obvious dud.

Militarily the proof the US is lagging behind Russia is the revelation that in a conventional war the US has only 8 days worth of missiles before needing to go nuclear.

Russia has already demonstrated their hypersonic missile production ability and the destructive power of their Oreshnik missile system, the actual results of which is still under news blackout by Zelensky and the US.

Trump has only threats and the threats aren't working. So what will he do after 50 days?

Nothing.

The EU/UK cannot replace the ending of US aid.

If he starts long range strikes into Russia their air defence will cope and they will respond with Oreshniks.

If he applies tariffs on Russia's trading partners the whole global economy will be adversely affected hurting the US more than Russia.

Meanwhile, a NYT journalist accompanies Russian troops to report on Ukrainian war crimes against Russian civilians in Kursk.

That's a major change of tune, they've never done anything like that before, why now?

Preparing the US public for a Ukrainian defeat?

And will the EU have to pay Trump's 100% secondary tariffs? They are the final destination for Russian oil exported to India after all. Asking for a friend.

And why oh why doesn't the west just make more military stuff, why is there a shortage of everything???????

It's because governments don't want to place orders for stuff for Ukraine that will take up to 10 years to fulfil.
But more to the point, the heady days when the west did manufacture stuff on scale are long gone, as are the skilled workers needed to work in the factories, that no longer exist.

What we really need to do is to partner up with a big manufacturing country like ...err, China or Russia, … oh wait.
