I'm just trying to keep up with you, dear master of rhetoric!
BTW, when it comes to military spending, it's the absolute value
that counts, not the percentage of GDP,, so notice how much more
your country (Germany) spends on military than mine. Your 5% will
be a real gamechanger. This will be like about 11.5% for Russia.
My country isn't Germany, unless there's been a very quiet annexation I missed. "Location" just refers to "location". For the record and your future reference — I’m Swiss.
"Real gamechanger" in what sense?
Thanks. In the sense that it will be a powerful army, comparable
only to the US and China, maybe India. Only that, the rest would
be unnecessary speculation.

Trump agrees to send 10 patriot missiles to Ukraine after blocking the 30 due to go because Zelensky begged for some more.
Reminder that patriots are needed to shoot down the Geran 2 long range drones of which Russia are regularly firing 450 A DAY (production of which is expected to increase to 700 a day according to western sources).
The patriots are also fired at Russian Iskander and Kinzhal missiles but can't hit them.
The US are making 610 patriots A YEAR (550 +60) and Ukraine have been firing them off at a huge rate for the last 4 years.
'Unnamed sources' in the military (CIA psyops) tells the NYT that the Trump admin are lying and there are plenty of patriots missiles left to give to Zelensky. If you believe that you'll believe anything.
Just a desperate attempt to save their beloved project Ukraine and the huge investment the CIA have pumped into it.
Reminder that the militaries must keep to a minimum stockpile of arms in peacetime by law.
There is no way that the US still has a huge stockpile left, if they did Biden would still have been shipping them out by the hundreds, not just 30 as in the last Biden batch that was stopped by Trump.
The Economist has been telling us that the US will need 4 years to replace their stock of 155mm artillery shells because current stocks are so low. Similar story for the HIMARS rocket systems.
Some commentators are also saying now that Ukraine has slipped down the order of priority behind Taiwan and Israel as to who gets what and how much.
Note that Trump yesterday was only talking about restarting some defensive weapons, until a negotiated settlement can be agreed on, no word on restarting any offensive weapons at all.
Trump has finally realised he has absolutely no leverage over Putin whatsoever though he's still trying to pretend more sanctions might work.
Meanwhile Macron, still fuming at having been rebuffed by Putin, says that the Russian oil industry must be hit with crippling err … sanctions. The self harming self delusion is off the charts.
As the whole world has seen played out over and over Russia can always sell it's cheap energy. The west's 'the world is with us' actually only translates to about 30 odd countries out of 190.
Any attempt to interrupt supply just raises the price and increases Russia's profits while harming western consumers.
When will the clowns running this shitshow just stop already (though the admission of failure will mean their own demise of course).
(from the Davis video)
A lot was revealed yesterday by the 3 parties of the conflict. Putin wants peace while Trump just wants the guns to fall silent, the 2 things are not the same. Zelensky also wants peace but only by Russia being forced to surrender.
Putin signed up in good faith to 3 separate peace treaties all of which were undermined. He's now seeing this conflict as headed to a military solution with little or no hope left of a negotiated one.
So Putin now talking about reconstruction plans for the 4 occupied regions while hinting at eyes on 4 more, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and
Odesa.

718 shot down out of 741? Oh my, what a stunning precision! At this point, I'm surprised they didn't round up to 'all of them plus three future drones we'll shoot down next Thursday.' Truly, UKR military success rate is matched only by children's fairy tales and Nigerian prince emails.

yes truly remarkable, especially considering they hardly have any air defence missiles left to shoot them down with and are very much reduced to 50cal machine guns which can't actually reach the altitude the Geran 2 drones are flying at.
But never mind that, it's all just nit picking. It's the shot down headline figure that's important.

The EU/UK NATO leadership can't understand how come they're losing the military industrial production war to Russia while NATO countries are currently deindustrialising thanks to their sanctions against Russian energy imports.
Seriously, they really are that stupid. Even if they figure it out they will never confess to the truth that their own actions have caused the failure. They'll just blame 'the Putin' and hope you don't notice.
But the press are finally noticing that giving Ukraine 10 patriot missiles to counter over 700 drones is of no practical use at all and is really only 'symbolic', I'd call it a joke myself but there you go.
Trump really doesn't want to have to admit to the world the west have lost the military industrial production war to a BRICS country, but there it is.
Trump is starting to realise Putin is the one setting the pace and agenda, Trump tries to keep up, more weapons one week, then none, then more again. Trump trying to pretend he's in control and leading when he's obviously not is just making him look silly.
But there are 2 levels to Trump's misunderstanding, he's figuring out that he's not the one in control and he really doesn't like that but he also can't understand what the Russians are doing.
What they're doing is winning the war but that can't be right, where are the massed troops and massed armour and the big arrows punching through enemy lines like what the Ukrainians tried to do in their summer offensive, and like the US did in Iraq and Afghanistan???
His neocon advisors are telling him Russia is too weak to do that but the truth is that it's just not their style.
The US love the flash and show of big manoeuvre warfare but don't have the patience for attrition though it needs to be done if you're to hold your gains.
The Russians do it the other way round. Do the attrition first and then the manoeuvre afterwards is the easy part.
So Trump is seeing a 'weak' Russia winning and a NATO 'strong' Ukraine losing and so it just makes no sense to him.
Western analysts have increased their forecast of Russian Geran2 drone production up to 1000 a day by mid September as they watch new buildings go up at the production sites in southern Russia.
''Air defence can't win a war but the lack of it can lose one very quickly''.
Reminder that each patriot missile costs $4 million and (if available) 2- 4 are fired at each incoming Geran2 drone - which cost $80,000.
You can see the problem.
