Zelensky's new incursion into Russia's Belgorod is another example of how optics/PR are everything and soldier's lives are expendable.
Yet another waste of time and lives to show to his donors that the Ukraine army isn't dead yet, in spite of being pushed backwards across the whole 2000km frontline for many months now.
The excuse for the costly incursion is that it's all a cunning plan to wrong foot the Russians and force them into inconvenient troop redeployments.
The reality is that Russia has several hundred thousand troops standing by for the upcoming summer offensive (by Ukr's own estimation) and Zelensky is really just lengthening the battlelines that are already over extending Ukraine's limited manpower resources.
European leaders saying Russia is deliberately slowing the talks.
This is not true. The simple fact is that Russia is not going to agree to anything that does not resolve the problems that caused the start of the conflict in the first place.
Russia will demand commitment that Ukraine will never join NATO and commitment that the rights of ethnic Russians in Ukraine will be protected.
The cost to Ukraine of enjoining the armed conflict at western nation's behest currently stands at the 4 eastern oblasts and rising.
Not to mention the million dead, the millions of refugees, and the major destruction of Ukrainian infrastructure.

The EU and UK are going to bring down the Ukraine peace talks just as they get underway.
The US have agreed to ease some sanctions on Russia to allow the Black Sea grain deal to restart. Some Russian banks will need to be back in the Swift international payments system to process grain payments.
But Swift is based in Belgium and the EU says that Russia must get all troops out of Ukraine and Crimea before any Russian banks will be allowed back in.
There is no chance of Russia doing that.
Trump will not go easy on the Europeans if they sink these talks, he can and will make them pay dearly.
Massive tariffs on EU goods look a good way to start. The current US trade deficit with the EU is around $235 Billion a year.
Zelensky is just starting to figure out that he's not part of these negotiations. The Europeans will learn, at their expense, the same lesson.
Note that there are already divisions appearing within EU ranks on this anti-US, anti-peace deal stance (Italy & Hungary for example).

Meanwhile, the US intelligence community has just released its annual threat assessment in which it now admits that Russia has the upper hand in the war in Ukraine.
So much so that there is nothing the US can do about it. That no US sanctions, no US weapons or supplies to Kiev is going to change the situation on the battlefield.
That's a 180 reversal of the official narrative in a sudden realignment to reality.
Now watch the EU, the UK, western MSM and all their 'experts' do a sudden about-turn as well.
