Everything has settled into a pattern now as they all have plotted their immediate course. US, UK and EU urging Ukraine to hold out until Biden's term ends at end of year, then they can all just turn there backs on it while Russia grinds on chewing up more and more of Ukraine.

After the new year and the money and equipment have dried up the Ukraine army will collapse and Russia can then pick over the scraps of what's left.

Shame the Ukraine failed to achieve any of the West's Russia objectives but hey ho, that's the way it goes sometimes.

It's a dilemma. Zelensky has said the hot war needs to be over by the end of the year when he knows US support ends but the US is demanding Ukraine does not collapse before then and spoil Biden's end of term leaving party.

Meanwhile Russia are now behind Ukraine's main lines of defences right across the contact line while the Ukr army has run out of replacements and are retreating at a steadily increasing pace as the Russians grind on.

Zelensky is also under threat from the west Ukraine far-right that if he ever negotiates peace with Putin they will come after him.

So lots of balls to keep juggling as he packs his bags and books his getaway flight to Florida.
