Hello moey_dw ,

The target computer you made upgrade from Windows 7 -> Windows 10 -> Windows 11 , if yes in C:\ you see and folder called Windows.old? For this point is a hidden folder.

Or if are a new clean installation of Windows 11?

In theory your Windows 11 is x64 and you pretend and Windows 7 for x86, so is not possible because are a difference between OS architecture, and for the last part because there are so many intermediate versions.

There a possible solution only for the prior version, for example you are using Windows 10 and downgrade do Win8.1 not older.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 0settings.

And if you don´t have any Windows 7 iso is possible in official way all the versions of Windows 7, from dell and applies for dell and non-dell machines https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us ... 021?lwp=rt and is possible download in the legal way all the iso versions of Windows 7 and the key is another point.

Another solution is backup everything in your computer, and made a clean installation, or why you don´t install an virtual machine using for ex: VirtualBox with vbox additions (is free, and easy to use) for your project. And for the latest updates you can install all updates directly from the Microsoft, and is possible with a tool called https://download.wsusoffline.net/ using the latest version with the option with Windows 7 https://download.wsusoffline.net/wsusoffline1162.zip, and don´t forget using virustotal.com , maybe some antiviruses recognize that have an virus but is about is generated by AutoIt tool.

I hope it helps

Are you really sure you want a OS that stopped receiving security patches for any holes found by the thousands of bright young hackers? The US military paid MS tens of millions a year to keep providing patches for XP for near a decade after MS stopped security updates.

If you look back at the video 'What to Do First on Windows 10 & 11' he tells of software that gives a Win 7 user interface on Win 10 or 11. Might be worth a try.

Hello moey_dw,

Great news, maybe your hw manufacturer keep in their drivers for that os version, but attention some applications doesn´t support (like recent versions of google chrome, mt4, antivirus, etc) because recent cipher used ex TLS 1.3 , or only work on recent .NET framework.

So is possible download and install windows 7 in the current date, if you any difficult share your error or limitation.

I agree with you, but some companies/people continue using legacy versions of OS, because the customized and internal software only works on that version.

There a lot of pros and cons using legacy vs recent os versions.

This is a more detailed view of the 'Explorer patcher' software mentioned above that allows different windows interfaces (win xp, 7, 8, 10 etc on win 11 (that still gets security updates)).

Yes, when win 10 first came out I downloaded and tried it out and then deleted after a couple of days because half my apps wouldn't work 😒

Can't remember if I even tried, I was still using win 7 at the time and one look at win 10 and I didn't really want to change at all. But eventually you need to buy a new computer and bite the bullet 😩
