"Only the price on the chart can show the entrance to the deal..."
Meanwhile Trump is busy making social media memes of himself as God's little helper and ‘the man with the gun’ while Iran is making Lego videos of ‘Trump the Idiot’.
And in the ongoing Congressional enquiry Secretary for War Hegseth denies the war is stuck in a quagmire, ‘oh no it’s not’.
Trump has run out of tricks. He's given up on his market manipulation posts trying to keep the oil price down and now just looks trapped.
He seems also to have given up on manned flight bombing runs over Iran, or pounding rubble with cruise missiles, or the idea of ground troops, or sending the navy any closer.
So, just like Zelensky, Trump is just stalling and hoping for a miracle, he's hoping that the Iranians will suddenly just collapse all by themselves.
In the meantime he’s got loads more ideas for some truly great memes.
Classic ‘fiddling while Rome burns’.
And so China has a navy flotilla heading to the Gulf to escort Chinese tankers through the US blockade.
But there are reports that the US has been letting Chinese tankers through anyway to avoid any confrontation with the Chinese.
Chinese oil tankers take 90% of Iranian oil and if they are being let through then the whole US blockade to stifle Iran’s oil income is complete nonsense.
China’s Escort Task Force consists of a guided missile destroyer, a frigate and supply ships as well as a Type 055 class destroyer and a space tracking/intel gathering ship, have all entered the Gulf of Oman.
Trump was always going to back down anyway, just as he did when Russia used a navy submarine to escort a Russian oil tanker past the US blockade into Cuba recently, and has another on the way.
Meanwhile, splits in Trump’s cabinet are starting to go public. Hegseth to Congress (and to Trump), ‘the US has inflicted a "severe blow" to Iran’s military, and that its airspace is under "complete control”, while he has insisted that ‘US munitions reserves remain robust’.
All untrue by the way.
Vance has reportedly questioned the "rosy portrayal" of the conflict fearing the Pentagon is minimizing Iran's remaining capabilities.
So the US blockade is doing nothing to stop Iran’s oil income, there are no military alternatives, Hegseth is lying, the Trump cabinet is openly split, and Trump himself is busy posting memes.
Apart from all that, everything is fine.
What is curious is that the Dems have been so quiet, why have they not been pumping their own candidate all through the Trump blundering? (Hint - US Israel lobby).

Trump is done, he’s run out of cards which is why he keeps saying he has all the cards.
He can’t send in troops, there is nowhere near enough of them and they will automatically just be targets for Iran's missiles and drones.
He can’t restart his own missile campaign, the US has already used up half its total inventory in the first 4 weeks. He can’t restart and send the inventory to zero, the Pentagon just won’t let him.
He can’t send the navy any closer without losing ships and hundreds of sailors to Iran’s missiles and drones.
And his blockade is a waste of time. The tankers are turning off their transponders, that means civilian trackers can’t see them so report ships are not going through the Straits, which suits the US, but is not the reality.
The US doesn't have the ships to actually seize more than a few tankers and escort them to a port anyway, so most that are found are just told to turn around (and try again tomorrow).
Then there’s the recent phone call from Putin in which, according to the Russian readout Trump received a clear warning that if he escalated further then the US would be caught up in a long drawn out war, presumably because Russia and China would make sure of it by taking the opportunity to back Iran fully.
All Trump can do now is either just walk away or stay and negotiate a long term peace deal with Iran.
And until the deal is done US gasoline prices will keep rising.
To show their desperation US neocons they have come up with 3 totally impossible suggestions as to what to do next;
- 'short and powerful' strikes on infrastructure targets
or
- taking over part of Straits to reopen it for commercial shipping (could
include ground forces)
or
- special forces operation to get the enriched uranium.
So no new bright ideas there. As said above, Trump is done - unless the US steps back and spends the next 6 months preparing an army of a million and a half to invade Iran.
Which is probably what Putin had foreseen when speaking to Trump in their recent phone call.
The 3 neocon points above are taken from the Mearsheimer video below which also talks about the tremendous, irreparable damage Trump has done to the US and its allies in the region compounding the total failure of this doomed escapade.
Interesting updates from Ukraine where Russian forces have reached to within 10 miles of Sloviansk one of the last Ukrainian held cities in Donetsk. Also of note is the upcoming big May holidays for Ukraine and Russia, WW2 victory day parades and all that, Putin is expected to call a unilateral ceasefire for a day.
It’s also worth considering the huge difference drones have made to modern warfare, the Ukraine war has now lasted longer than WW2 say the Americans - who were rather late to WW1 as well btw.
Drones mean that the battlefronts can move no quicker than walking pace, any vehicles present are automatically targeted and destroyed. Staging areas to assemble troops within 10 miles of the front are impossible and troop advancements must be done on foot and in groups of 5 maximum.
This is why the front is moving so slowly, the next big advancement in modern warfare will be how to counter the drone threat to troop movements.
And Russian PM Medvedev said 450,000 Russians had signed contracts to serve last year and that 127,000 had already signed so far this year (I think they are all 2 year contracts).
Big difference with Ukraine where you’re snatched off the street and the only way out is to be carried out, ‘Cargo 200’ or ‘Cargo 300’ (KIA or WIA).
Also of note yesterday was Trump saying to reporters that Ukraine had already been ‘militarily defeated’, not heard him say that before. He also said that somebody (meaning Zelensky) was holding up any peace deal.

Zelensky and his gang are starting to express their displeasure, they were of the understanding that if they fought the US and EU’s proxy war against Russia then Ukraine would get fast tracked into NATO and the EU.
First there was a roadblock put up against NATO entry and now the Europeans are wavering on EU admission.
Didn't the Ukrainians know after all that there are hoops to jump through and Turkey has been waiting decades, or rather didn't they know they couldn’t trust Macron and Ursula and all the rest of them.
All this is coming to a head now because Zelensky is about to lose the Donbas, the defences across the Donbas took Ukraine and NATO 8 years to construct and after that there really is not much that's going to stop the Russians.
It was never supposed to be like this, Putin's government was supposed to collapse and a new Western friendly government installed in its place.
The Europeans and the Americans would then get a share of Russia's underground wealth which would save a bankrupt Europe and take the US a step closer to controlling the world's oil reserves.
But now that dream has gone up in smoke and Ukraine is about to collapse, so their new friends are just turning their backs on them.
In the Gulf conflict the main sticking point preventing a deal now is that Trump ‘insists on a permanent pledge against nuclear weaponisation’.
Trump seems to be forgetting that before he started the war Iranian leaders had a long standing pledge against nuclear weapons, and that Iran was not breaking that pledge as was confirmed by all of the US’s intel agencies admitted Joe Kent.
Meanwhile the White House has just officially informed Congress that ‘hostilities against Iran have ended’ avoiding the 60 day rule where Trump would need Congressional authorisation to continue though the US navy blockade remains in place.
Presumably Trump can restart if needs be but as per yesterday's post he really has run out of options anyway.
I would not be surprised though if he decides to go out with a (missiles) bang, probably before agreeing to a surrender deal while claiming victory and saying it was all because he forced the Iranians to the table.
Trump really can't just walk away without a deal with oil at $120 and rising.
And the other Gulf states look like joining the UAE in asking the US for dollar credit which the US will grant to prevent them from selling US treasuries.
All the Gulf states run high debt ratios and high cash flows which have very suddenly just stopped.
The price the US demands for the favour could be the same as for UAE, leave OPEC.
We could be watching the end of one of the most successful long running cartels in history.
And lastly back to the Europeans who, having watched the useless US blockade in the Gulf have decided that blockading Russian oil tankers in the Baltic is a great idea.
They think this because they’re stupid.
The US claims that the blockade is costing Iran up to $6 billion, a figure they just pulled straight out of their arse. But they are forgetting that China, who is buying 90% of Iran’s oil, already told the world they are paying up front, and it has also been reported that the US is letting tankers bound for China through anyway, and then there’s the Chinese navy flotilla heading to the Gulf to escort tankers if the Americans do decide to try to block them.
Not only will this European attempt to blockade raise oil prices further, the Russians will send their navy as escort and so we are back to the weaker losing side again trying to escalate their way out of trouble against the winning side who has escalation dominance.
What the Europeans are really hoping for is that the Russians will sink a European patrol boat so they can run crying to the Americans to come and save them from the nasty Russians.
Can't wait for Ursula and Kallas to be voted out of office, oh wait, I forgot, we stopped being a democracy decades ago.
Meanwhile, as things stand, we are on track for oil at $200 a barrel and inflation to 15% (see video below).

Global Inventories are running dry, Pakistan has 2 days of oil left, other Asian countries are not far behind.
Once the reserves are gone users will be forced onto the spot markets while at the same time trying to destroy demand as much as possible, reducing operations while industries keep bidding up the price of any available supply.
All industries use oil to some degree and with no more shipments from the Gulf on the way some industries are already starting to cut back, reduce operations, lay off staff. Demand destruction leads to declining GDP, recession then depression.
A global recession is already baked in because repairs to Gulf state's infrastructure will take a minimum of 8 months before any significant amount of oil can flow again. LNG is expected to take even longer.
Meanwhile Trump has come out with a post saying he is going to send the navy in to escort ships through the Straits (again), this time calling it ‘Project Freedom’ but this looks on the face of it suicidal, there must be more going on.
Maybe it’s just another Trump bluff, the Iranians would be mad not to call it as such no matter what, if they don’t they will have lost everything.
Maybe a secret deal has been done with the Iranians and Trump is being given a PR victory.
Maybe it's a revelation that the US is letting tankers to China through as I've mentioned in previous posts.
Maybe this is just another Trump market manipulation before US market open after the weekend.
We shall see. Trump can’t actually restart the war as was, he doesn’t have the inventory, but he could be setting up the Iranians to break the ceasefire and, as said before, he could make a big bang and then basically accept a revised Iran points deal and walk away leaving Iran charging a toll and the US not paying reparations.
Back to Ukraineand major hints from Putin's government that Odessa and Kiev cities will be added to the list of majority Russian speaking people to be liberated in the SMO.
And the Russians are in no hurry, Trump just relayed to the Europeans and Asian allies that munitions orders have all been put on hold while the US rebuilds its own inventory, which may well take years.
