Moving AveragesWill programmer jobs disappear in the future ?

With the rise of AI agents & Neural Networks, programmers will less and less be needed.
when we reach AGI, there will be no need left for programmers, except maybe for very specific tasks that a computer can't comprehend yet.
but other than that, I think most programmer jobs will disappear in the future 5 years : why do you need to pay $100k a year when you get the same thing for $200 ? and often better coded ?
One of my cousin works for big army compagnies and I think he will be out of job soon

what do you think ? are we going programmer-less soon ?

More realistically, everyone could become a programmer.

AI gives me 10x the power, meaning I can solve problems faster, try different architectures, and focus on logic more than writing hundreds of lines of code.

That said, an inexperienced person would not benefit from AI, because AI cannot go beyond its training, so it cannot create anything new unless pointed in that direction.

Not at all! Programmer jobs aren't going away—they’re actually evolving into something even more exciting.

The developer's role is becoming much more holistic. Beyond traditional full-stack development, the focus is shifting toward multi-domain expertise—understanding how everything connects across front-end, back-end, middleware, hosting, and databases. While simple or repetitive tasks are increasingly being automated, this frees developers to focus on higher-level problem-solving.

In fact, domain knowledge is becoming a superpower. It's already common to see professionals with deep industry insight build incredible applications because they truly understand the real-world problems they are solving.

To thrive in the AI era, the key is to keep learning and levelling up. Think about how the medical field handled AI: doctors initially hesitated, but now healthcare is adopting AI tools in a big way to improve patient outcomes. AI will certainly shift how certain tasks are done, but those who learn to work alongside it and deepen their knowledge will really shine.

At the end of the day, staying curious and open to new tools is our best move—for developers and everyone else!
