Trump launches a limited military strike against Iran presumably in an attempt to nudge Iran to a more favourable deal with the US.
The US is calling the attacks “self defence” after it was reported US drones were shot down by Iran. The US claims they attacked Iranian boats they thought were laying mines and are stressing that the ceasefire is truly, really still intact.
The big problem for the US military is that the whole world knows they have no more golden bullets in it’s armoury. If they had they would have used them.
Iran on the other hand has plenty more golden bullets and we wait to see if and how they might choose to escalate further.
Attacks on regional oil infrastructure? Or Israeli nuclear power facilities? Or undersea internet comm cables? Or the regions desalination plants?
If the Saudi desalination plants are taken out Riyadh, a city of 8 million, will need to be evacuated, and it’s the US they’ll blame and never forgive.
Trump at 79 years old has become a demented idiot willing to gamble any number of lives in order to save face. Unfortunately he also has the support of nearly the whole US Congress.
Meanwhile in Ukraine,
'Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has directly warned U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that long-range strikes against Kiev are IMMINENT, and recommended that all foreign citizens EVACUATE the Ukrainian capital immediately.'
Putin is warning the US to evacuate their people from Kiev as a big missile campaign is heading that way. This comes after the huge retaliation missile strike just a couple of days ago.
Putin has long faced internal pressure to up the stakes in the conflict, ex-PM Medvedev said recently that (to paraphrase) yes we know Zelensky is trying to bait us into escalation but really - why shouldn’t we?
The Russians have already warned the EU they know where their drone making factories are.

This was Lavrov’s warning of 2 days ago so expect a major hit on Ukraine ‘decision making centres’ which are the Soviet built complex of government buildings in central Kiev.
It seems that Putin received China’s blessing to turn up the heat during his recent China trip that followed hot on the heals of Trump’s own trip to china.
Xi had always advised caution and promoted the route to peace during Putin’s long negotiations with the US. Putin has always been mindful of not upsetting Xi given that China continuing to buy Russian oil was keeping Russia afloat during the sanctions. But following Xi’s own recent problematic dealings with Trump it seems Xi has changed his mind and is now prompting Putin to just get on with it.
Trump meanwhile is still playing on the swings while the rest of the world sinks into recession. When you push this way market price goes up, when you push that way market price goes down, terrific fun especially when making bets on the side.
Little Trumpy knows he still has a week or 2 before the turmoil hits the US proper so may as well make some extra pocket money in the meantime.
The US are currently postponing promised weapons shipments around to world in a desperate attempt to stop their own inventory sliding to zero as Trump oscillates between deal and no deal in Iran depending on who he spoke to last.

2316Kiev hit by 700 drones and missiles at the start of the intensified campaign from the Russians in response to the Ukraine attack on the girls collage in Russian controlled east Ukraine that killed 21.
600 drones & 90 missiles is a huge amount (especially that number of missiles) that has only ever been used in a day before on the entire country not a single city.
Russia had warned international embassy staff to leave Kiev and yesterday EU number 2 Kaja Kallas said that only the US moved their staff. The US later denied this but some say the statement was made to calm the Kiev public.

Funny though how they directly reflect Ukraine’s own official figures that appear on this thread everyday, figures that are known to be pulled straight from Zelensky’s arse.
Mediazona used to compile casualty data from open source information and had a reputation for independence and accuracy until January of 2025 when they suddenly changed the way they collated their data adding a new ‘estimate’ component. From that moment on Mediazona fell into line with the official propaganda narrative.
Mediazona’s original method actually shows a major declining rate of Russian casualties since 2025 and is in line with Russia’s known change of tactics, Those changes were to fall back during Ukrainian counterattacks and so allowing the Ukrainians to form their own cauldron while the Russians amassed troops to counter attack the counterattack.
Once in a cauldron the usual tactics apply, artillery and drone strikes from the sides and once softened a push by the Russians with superior numbers up the middle.
But declining Russian losses were not part of the script hence the new invigorated propaganda campaign to convince the public the opposite is true.
The Ukraine data on Russian losses are projection, those numbers are more in line with Ukrainian losses not Russian. Ukrainians are being used to soften the Russians for a NATO war sometime after 2030. That’s the western European leader’s only hope to save themselves from this complete debacle they brought upon themselves.
And spare a thought for poor old Finland and Sweden who signed up to NATO thinking they were going to get a share of the Russian spoils after Putin was overthrown but now find themselves in the frontline of a new European war.
Sweden suddenly finds itself needing to host 17 US military bases, sounds just like Ukraine immediately after the 2014 coup.
Some interesting side notes on oil. Price is holding between 95 and 105 because the US is supplying South Korea and Japan from their reserves, the US itself is relatively self sufficient though it needs to import some heavy oil from Canada to mix with it’s own light grade oil.

2318The Drone Wars Begin. So apparently a Russian long range drone flew across the border into Romania where it hit an apartment building killing 2 people.
Some say the drone went off course due to a technical fault, some say it was deliberate, some say it was re-programmed by the Ukrainians up to mischief.
The latter is in line with reports from several weeks ago about Ukrainian drones crossing Baltic countries to hit St Petersburg in Russia until the Russians apparently re-programmed one in flight and got it to hit a Latvian oil refinery. Since then those attacks seem to have stopped.
But the main thing about the Romanian drone strike is that nothing has happened, sure Kaya Kallas is going berserk but that’s normal behaviour for her. The thing is, what can the western European leaders actually do?
They are already sending all the drones they make to attack Russia via Ukraine. What would be the point of trying to evoke NATO article 5? The US won’t do anything and the Europeans don’t have any armies or military equipment, that’s all supposed to be coming years down the line if they ever back up their words and actually start making it.
So it’s starting to look like Russia can extend the war into western Europe and there’s not much the EU/UK can really do about it and so that doesn’t bode well for the future.

The reality is that the remaining 2 cities, Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, were never well fortified at all due to their vulnerability being sited on a valley floor surrounded by heights. Sure, the Ukrainians will try to defend them but once the Russians secure the high ground the resulting battle is unlikely to last very long.
Behind the ‘belt’ is open ground up to the Donetsk oblast border and once taken the Russians will have completed the original goal of the SMO having already captured the Luhansk oblast.
From there, who knows?
