Stoch (Signals and Trends)

Stoch (5,3,3) is used for entry signals.
Stoch (89,34,55) is used to define the trend.

If Stoch (89,34,55) is crossing down, the market is in a short-term downtrend.
Plot only RED signal arrows.

If Stoch (89,34,55) is crossing up, the market is in a short-term uptrend.
Plot only GREEN signal arrows.

Trades are taken only in the direction of the Stoch (89,34,55) trend.

So on Monday, December 29, 2025, you had 10 chances to short gold. :think:

This one is from the book a friend sent to me : "Evidence-Based Technical Analysis Applying the Scientific Method and Statistical Inference to Trading Signals" from David A Ronson.

In one place (starting from page 430 ) the author is mentioning the use of stochastic (he calls it a "Channel normalization operator" but from a definition of it it is clear that it is what we usually refer to as "Stochastic") to detect divergences of two symbols.

The idea itself is simple and that is why I like it : 2 stochastics of a smoothed price are calculated for the current symbol and for the symbol that is used to comparison.

Then the difference of those 2 stochastics is calculated. The a further enhancement is done by one additional stochastic applied to this difference in order to get clearer and more usable values.
 
Dear mladen
are there any other forms of this indicator?? because when it reaches to 0 or 1 level, it becomes a flat line but I need to know exactly what happens in that areas!

Hi All

Not sure if its been done before but I am seeking an alert indicator that will alert when stochastic is overbought/sold but also references if 2 moving averages (slow and fast) before it gives the alert.

Eg. Buy alert for oversold stochastic and fast MA is above the slow MA and vice versa for sell alert.

Could you just make a visual change to the arrows?

So that they only mark the crossover points of the moving averages that are in the OBOS area, disregarding crossovers outside of that area?
