Hello everyone. In my early morning studies, I summarized the information from the confirmation indicators on the excellent Stonehill Forex website. I separated them into H4 and D1 charts for ease. Thanks to Gemini Pro, it already gives us a starting point

Note: This post is a little longer than usual, but for a good reason.
Note 2: BTCUSD testing

Top 10 Indicators – 4H Timeframe
This list ranks the top-performing indicators for shorter-term trading, based on a combination of profitability, consistency, and statistical robustness.

Indicator Descriptions (4H)
Braid Filter: This is a trend confirmation indicator that measures the strength of a trend by calculating the difference between the highest and lowest values of three different exponential moving averages. This value is then compared against the Average True Range (ATR) to filter out weak or insignificant signals.
Kase Permission Stoch Smoothed: An advanced version of the stochastic oscillator developed by Cynthia Kase. It is designed to be less prone to false signals by effectively combining the last five price bars into one, creating a smoothing effect that filters out short-term market noise. It is typically used as a two-line crossover indicator for trend confirmation.

Laguerre: The Laguerre RSI, designed by John Ehlers, is a variation of the standard Relative Strength Index (RSI). It uses a special four-element filter to be more responsive to price changes and reduce the lag and false signals common in traditional oscillators.

Doda Stochastic: This is a modern, smoothed version of the classic Stochastic Oscillator. Its key feature is that it filters the closing price with an Exponential Moving Average (EMA) before applying the stochastic calculation. This pre-smoothing process results in a much cleaner signal line designed to reduce noise.

Momentum candles: This is a trading concept rather than a single coded indicator. It focuses on identifying candlesticks with large bodies and small wicks, which signify strong momentum and conviction from either buyers or sellers. A strategy based on these candles involves trading in the direction of these powerful price movements.

Coral: The specific mechanics of the Coral indicator are not detailed in the provided materials. However, based on its strong ROI and win rate, it is likely a trend-following or momentum-based indicator designed to capture significant price movements.

Fisher Transform: Developed by John Ehlers, this indicator transforms price into a Gaussian normal distribution. While originally intended to identify market turning points, this version functions more effectively as a trend-identifying indicator, using a histogram to show the direction and strength of the trend.

Smoothed Momentum: This is a momentum indicator that uses a moving average to filter the raw momentum calculation. This smoothing process significantly reduces false signals and "whipsaws" compared to a standard momentum oscillator, making it easier to identify the underlying trend.

Kalman: The specific mechanics of the Kalman indicator are not detailed in the provided materials. It is likely a type of filter, similar to a Kalman filter used in signal processing, designed to smooth price data and reduce noise to produce clearer trading signals.

Vulcan Profit: This is an arrow-based indicator that uses a combination of four moving averages (two fast and two slow) to generate buy or sell signals when they align, confirming a potential trend change.

CRITICAL WARNING: Research indicates that some versions of this indicator are known to "repaint" (i.e., signals appear or move after the fact), which can make backtest results dangerously misleading.

And 1D indicators on BTCUSD

Top 5 Indicators – 1D Timeframe
This list ranks the top-performing indicators for a longer-term trend perspective. Note that only five indicators were available for this timeframe in the provided data.

Indicator Descriptions (1D)
Cyber Cycle: Created by John Ehlers, the Cyber Cycle is an oscillator designed to isolate the cyclical component of market movement from its underlying trend. By using advanced smoothing algorithms, it aims to identify market cycles with minimal lag, making it highly responsive to potential reversals.

Disparity Index: This momentum indicator measures the relative position of an asset's most recent closing price to a selected moving average, shown as a percentage. A positive value indicates the price is above its average (bullish momentum), while a negative value suggests bearish momentum. Extreme readings can signal overbought or oversold conditions.

Reflex: Another indicator from John Ehlers, the Reflex is a "zero-lag averaging" tool that models market price as a combination of cycles and short-term trends. It uses a "Super Smoother Filter" to reduce noise and provide a cleaner signal, which is typically generated when the indicator line changes color.

Decycler Oscillator: This John Ehlers indicator is designed to identify trend transitions with almost no lag. It works by applying a high-pass filter to remove the high-frequency cycle components from the price, thereby isolating the underlying low-frequency trend. A cross above its zero line suggests a transition to an uptrend, while a cross below indicates a downtrend.

Ehlers Reverse EMA: This is a modification of the standard Exponential Moving Average (EMA) designed by John Ehlers to remove the inherent lag of traditional moving averages by using signal processing techniques. It is often considered a slower, more reliable confirmation indicator for identifying the overarching trend

Hello everyone! I'm updating this BTCUSD study based on the data available on the Stonehill Forex website.

Often, with the sheer number of excellent indicators our programmer friends post, it can be a bit difficult to know where to begin.

I created this study as a starting point for 4H and 1D to help you make decisions. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me here or via PM :)

Indicator Descriptions (4H)
Braid Filter: A trend confirmation indicator that measures its strength by analyzing the relationship between multiple exponential moving averages and filtering the signals with the Average True Range (ATR) to reduce noise.

Kase Permission Stoch Smoothed: An advanced version of the stochastic oscillator designed by Cynthia Kase. It smooths data by combining multiple price bars, aiming to reduce false signals and provide clearer trend confirmation crossovers.

Laguerre: A variation of the Relative Strength Index (RSI) developed by John Ehlers. It uses a Laguerre filter to be more responsive to price changes and reduce the lag and false signals common in traditional oscillators.

Doda Stochastic: A modern, smoothed version of the classic Stochastic Oscillator. It pre-filters the closing price with an EMA before the stochastic calculation, resulting in a cleaner signal line designed to reduce noise.

Elegant Oscillator: Likely a custom momentum oscillator designed to provide smooth and clear signals about market momentum, helping traders identify potential shifts in buying or selling pressure.

Coral: A trend-following indicator that appears as a colored line on the chart, changing color to signify bullish or bearish trends. It is designed to be a smooth and responsive trend filter.

HLC Trend: A trend-following indicator that likely uses the High, Low, and Close prices to calculate a smoothed average or trend line, helping to identify the primary direction of the market.

Momentum candles: A trading concept that focuses on identifying candlesticks with large bodies and small wicks. These candles signify strong momentum and conviction from either buyers or sellers, and strategies are built to trade in the direction of this momentum.

Mass Index: A volatility indicator that identifies potential trend reversals by measuring the narrowing and widening of the range between high and low prices. It does not determine direction but rather signals when a trend is likely to reverse.

Kalman Filter: Likely a type of filter, similar to a Kalman filter used in signal processing, designed to smooth price data and reduce noise to produce clearer trading signals.

and here is the same data in BTCUSD, but in D1

Indicator Descriptions (1D)
Composite Index: A technical indicator that combines signals from multiple other indicators (like RSI, Momentum, etc.) into a single, comprehensive value to provide a more holistic view of market conditions.

Glitch Index: Likely an oscillator designed to identify anomalies or "glitches" in price action that may signal short-term trading opportunities or trend exhaustion.

Doda Stochastic: The 1D version of the modern, smoothed stochastic oscillator. It aims to provide cleaner signals for longer-term trend analysis by filtering price data before calculation.

Cyber Cycle: An oscillator developed by John Ehlers, designed to isolate the cyclical component of market movement from its trend. It aims to identify market cycles with minimal lag, making it highly responsive to potential reversals.

Linear Regression Slope: This indicator calculates the slope of a linear regression line over a specified period. It helps to quantify the direction and strength of the prevailing price trend.

Disparity Index: A momentum indicator that measures the relative position of the most recent closing price to a selected moving average, expressed as a percentage. It helps identify overbought/oversold conditions and trend momentum.

Ehlers Early Onset Trend: An indicator developed by John Ehlers designed to detect the beginning of a new trend as early as possible, using advanced filtering techniques to identify shifts in market structure.

Reflex: A "zero-lag averaging" tool from John Ehlers that models market data as a combination of cycles and short-term trends. It uses a "Super Smoother Filter" to reduce noise and provide cleaner signals.

Ehlers Reverse EMA: A modification of the standard Exponential Moving Average (EMA), designed by John Ehlers to remove inherent lag by using signal processing techniques. It is often used as a reliable confirmation indicator for the overarching trend.

Decycler Oscillator: Another John Ehlers indicator, designed to identify trend transitions with almost no lag. It works by applying a high-pass filter to remove cyclical components from the price, thereby isolating the underlying trend.

Note: I have the impression that Mr. Tools mentioned in a recent post about Ehlers, he seems to trade using the Daily Chart. Although the results here do not reflect this, but Stonehill also does studies on EURUSD, US500 and XAUUSD. Therefore, I strongly recommend Ehlers' indicators for the Daily Chart because the results in general are very encouraging.
