Most users ever online was 42862 on Sat Jul 19, 2025 9:54 am

Who am I telling all this to :lolno:
I don't think this thread will get that many views haha. What's in it besides us oldies talking about our site "stats" 😅

However, I've got 350 new members in queue to "filter" through this weekend. Many won't get through if their IP addresses don't match their "Location", their VPN's are linked to spammers or they use a disposable e-mail etc. Each and every registration is checked.

I'm a little strict on who gets into our site nowadays. And once a member joins, their posts are also approved or disapproved by our Moderators if they are new.

Maybe we should re-name the thread to "Holy Grail Guaranteed Richness"? Then we'll see who's really watching haha!

Yes, your suspicions were correct. I've now implemented a total block on all bots, crawlers and AI that are from unknown origins (new to the site). Google Bot, Bing and so forth are still allowed so the stats should return to a more realistic amount now.

After working through the new "registrations" this morning, over half of them are from known abusers and spammers.

I remember the 'most users' figure was very high before the FS site update a couple of years ago reset the figure. But it was the case where a mention on an Asian online site or channel would incur a sudden huge temporary rise in users that would fall off after a week though the registered and active members figures remained the similar as before.

There has been a sudden explosion in AI bots all over the internet harvesting content for the megacorp reference libraries.
There's no such thing as AI they say, just super fast processors searching through mega huge data bases.
And Microsoft are really just a data collection company, which is why they give you Windows for free.
