"Trump hates Ukraine" — The Times (https://www.thetimes.com/world/russia-u ... -v0bpj8qq5)
Trump has been hostile to Zelensky and Ukraine since his first term in the White House. In 2019, Trump was impeached over allegations that he froze nearly $400 million in military aid to Kyiv in an attempt to force the Ukrainian government to investigate Joe Biden, then the former US vice president, and his son Hunter. This was happening on the eve of the 2020 presidential election.
Trump even sent his personal lawyer to Ukraine to persuade Zelensky to publicly announce the investigation, which could have seriously harmed Biden's chances of winning. But no evidence of Biden's wrongdoing ever emerged, and Zelensky refused to interfere in American politics.
Its comical that everyone is acting surprised about Trumps actions.
He said it clearly: “Well, you’ve been there for three years. You should have ended it — three years. You should have never been there. You should have never started it. You should have made a deal”.
