Re: Beatle's Trend Trading System
3762@Beatle,
i missed a couple of trades following that checklist, 100% by Beatle's book, because they were against the HTF trend (a recent one on USDCHF), how do you deal with that?
take less risk? take them normally?

3763That will eventually come down to your experience and risk appetite. ONLY you can decide if you want to enter a trade without full confirmation.Forexlearner wrote: Tue Mar 12, 2024 10:07 pm @Beatle,

I do do it at times but that's down to my experience and observing how my system works and plays out. Of course, there have been and will be times when it does NOT work out and I have to take the loss :-D

Re: Beatle's Trend Trading System
3764Of course my NASDAQ trade Breakeven SL got triggered right at the decimal before it got up again...very suspicious
And I also checked the chart at a different broker, IC Markets, the SL would have not been triggered...as if my broker where i had the trade magically had a deeper drop

Re: Beatle's Trend Trading System
3765I have IC Markets and lately I have the same suspicions : candle stops moving the moment I buy/sell and goes opposites direction. TP missed for few pips and SL hit where the price has not been. I don't believe in manipulations but this is recurrent now. I complained once and they just replied with a copy/pasted template, morons.

That is why guys I DO NOT trade with an SL or TP! The brokers are definitely manipulating your trades if you use MT4 or MT5.
What I do is set alerts at the levels that I would normally have my SL and TP. I use Trade Assistant to calculate everything and then I delete the SL and TP replacing them with alerts

Re: Beatle's Trend Trading System
3767Remember when you're trading indicies you're not trading live market , you're trading with the broker so they have a lot of control over price. That's why there's sometimes a huge difference in price between brokers. Only in fx and commodities will your trades actually go to the "live" market.Samoth wrote: Tue Mar 12, 2024 11:40 pm Of course my NASDAQ trade Breakeven SL got triggered right at the decimal before it got up again...very suspicious

Re: Beatle's Trend Trading System
3768apart from what was already mentioned, don't trade the news unless you are on a much higher TF. It's basically roulette at that point, it will settle but until it does it may cause a lot of damage. The spreads increase wildly and vary from broker to broker, something that doesn't help either.Samoth wrote: Tue Mar 12, 2024 11:40 pm Of course my NASDAQ trade Breakeven SL got triggered right at the decimal before it got up again...very suspicious

A good tip i learn, is if you are sure of your trade on a smaller TF, and don't want to close it because of the news, just hedge it right before the news release and remove the SL's. When it settles close the opposing trade, reinstate the SL and move on with the normal schedule. You will lose the spread, but in the M30 it won't make much difference. It would solve your problems there.

Re: NFP on fire 🔥
3769Is the 1-2-3 indicator the triangles indicator? One thing I always struggle with is where to take profit. Would be interested to hear how you use it for TP placement. Thanks!BeatlemaniaSA wrote: Tue Mar 12, 2024 9:25 pm Hi samoth,
Yes, I generally follow the same checklist process. The first step though is to always check where price is in relation to value. This is extremely important. I do not trail my trades. I move them to break even once I feel they have moved sufficiently into profit. a personal decision. The risk-to-reward that I set for myself is a 1:3 to 1:4.
The Peak and Zee work in unison and give me a very good indication of price movement i.e a potential reversal. I have both set to 18 (the default of the Zee).
The 1-2-3 indicator now provides me with a very good indication of where price is heading and I can set my TP accordingly. It is amazingly accurate and when all the other indicators align when price reaches the zones I can go heavy on the trade![]()
Re: Beatle's Trend Trading System
3770Triggered by the question of Samoth re. the F12 chart 'replay' i decided to share my manual MT4 tester and the Beats V5 tester template.
It's not much (compared to Beatle system itself) but it may be of use to 'practice trading' in a 'replay mode'.
One can always not use it ..
- Place the ManualOrders v3 file in the Experts folder.
- The tester template in the templates folder (do not change the name because this is what MT4 is looking for when the Strategy tester gets started)
- Go to the Strat tester (Ctrl-R), select currency etc, go to the Expert properties to set the lotsize and SL/TP methods
- Activate the visual mode, select date period and run it. When set to pause you can use F12 again to step bar bar or tick by tick.
Can the code be improved? Absolutely but first make it work and then make it fast and pretty. However, it works for me so hence the addition of the source code . ;-)
Cheers,
F
