The western narrative is changing for a reason. The headlines have changed from 'Ukraine is winning' to 'NATO must prepare for a direct major war with Russia'. The reason is because no one can pretend any longer that Russia isn't going to win.
As was pointed out a long time ago the reason is because Russia would always win through attrition not least because all the NATO armies have been down sized every year for the last 20 years and were never going to be able to supply Ukraine for long.
I still believe Russia has no intention of attacking any NATO country. Their goal was to make NATO keep their promise never to incorporate Ukraine into NATO and that Ukraine remain neutral. NATO marching right up to Russia's front door was known for years to be crossing a red line for Russia.
The real disaster is the complete destruction of Ukraine and of an entire generation of Ukrainians. Very few commanders in history have ever been insane enough to allowed the destruction to go on for so long before seeking negotiations and for that Zelensky is totally to blame.
