I have been running windows 11 Enterprise edition (less bloatware) for about two months now and really the only reason is for HDR graphics when watching movies and tv shows in 4k. I am thinking about going back to Linux mint again (no HDR) but MT4 runs faster and it is way easier to run multiple version from a single directory. Windows uses %APPDATA% which is a pain in the butt especially for backups and multi MT4's. Maybe I am missing something but I do miss Linux.

I ran into same problem when you have few MT4 instances.
1) One with more history for back testing 2) one for EA testing 3) one for live testing with 2000-5000 bars ... and list goes on.
The way i found work around - make directory junction | command = mklink /j
It takes few minutes but very easy to manage afterwards
Make one master directory contain = MQL folder / templatefolderforeachMT4
Link all MT4\MQL to = master MQL folder
Link eachMT4\templates = templatefolderforeachMT4
This way you can keep all MT4 history/template separate too. One shared folder for MQL4 means all MT4 instances share same Indicator/EAs.
Easy to backup/ One indictor/ea changes reflect in all MT4
