Indicator is just a tool.
Use it only if it can benefit you. Leave it if you don't know how to use it optimally.

Dual Ulcer Index
34This is the Dual Ulcer Index coded by Mladen. The Ulcer index was originally developed by Peter Martin and Byron McCann in 1987 which is a volatility indicator designed to measure risk. They published their findings in the book The Investor's Guide to Fidelity Funds (which can be found in our Trader's Library here).
Parkinson's Historical Volatility for MT4
35This is the MT4 version of the Parkinson's Historical Volatility indicator coded by Mladen.
As explained by Mladen:
The Parkinson's number, or High Low Range Volatility developed by the physicist, Michael Parkinson in 1980, aims to estimate the Volatility of returns for a random walk using the High and Low in any particular period. IVolatility.com calculates daily Parkinson values. Prices are observed on a fixed time interval: n = 10, 20, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180 days.
An important use of the Parkinson's number is the assessment of the distribution prices during the day as well as a better understanding of the market dynamics. Comparing the Parkinson's number and periodically sampled volatility helps traders understand the tendency towards mean reversion in the market as well as the distribution of stop-losses.

- SH is stock's High price in t day.
- SL is stock's Low price in t day.
- High/Low Return (xtHL) is calculated as the natural logarithm of the ratio of a stock's High price to stock's Low price.

ATR Averages indicator
36Tonight i'm sorting through our TSD files again and posting indicators and files that we're still missing. Here is the standalone ATR Averages indicator with Multi-timeframe mode + Interpolation & Averages (Including Super Smoother & Non Lag). It's in the old school coding format and hasn't been made user-friendly yet by Mrtools but it works really well and the MTF mode is spot-on :P

Volatility Ratio Stepped
37Here is the Volatility Ratio Stepped indicator by Mladen for MT4 which can help traders in counter-trend scalping. There are various ways to use this tool to trade including entering opposite direction trades once the indicator peaks (and scalping retracements from there).

Re: Volatility Indicators for MT4
38Guys,
lookin for a simple ATR which would show the line (or zone) in different colors based on the value. Anything?

Volatility Ratio
39This is a particular indicator which was recently coded by Mladen for MT4 and looks like a great creation.
As explained by Mladen:
Theory :
There is always a need to measure if the market is "quiet" or it is volatile. One of the possible way is to use standard deviations, but the issue is simple : we do not have some levels that could help us find out if the market is in a state of lower or higher volatility. This indicator is attempting to do that :
Usage :
This is not a directional indicator. It should be used for volatility detection, not trend assessment - for that you have to use some other indicator and then check this one if the market volatility conditions are those that you expect
