This is correct.
Furthermore if you want to use a specific template which should shows you when you are using a strategytester then you can name it as "Tester".
For renko as standard template name it as "Offline".

I like trading off the 15min trend but want to trade the 5min moves.

That arrow repaints, if the direction of price is above open and the indicators are calling trades in the correct direction on different timeframes then take the trades or reduce position size if you are worried about risk, just make sure you have a stop loss. Pure trend trading with continuation entries.

Please take a screenshot so we can see whats missing, have you tried changing time frames back and forth after selecting template?
