How much money is there in the world?

$1.2 quadrillion dollars. This includes cash, derivatives, cryptocurrency and investments.

If we're talking just cash, it's $37 trillion dollars in circulation, cash and savings.

Which brings us to the question:

  • How much is $1 quadrillion dollars? That's one million x 1 billion dollars.
  • How much is $1 trillion dollars? That's one thousand x 1 billion dollars.

If you've ever wondered how many $100 dollar notes it would take to stack into $1 trillion dollars, check out this picture!

This was obvious to me from the beginning when I learnt that money isnt backed up on gold or anything like that. Overall to me it means forex is not a zero sum game as they keep repeating all the time. Just like anything else, if they keep it repeating to you all the time, its most probably a lie. Individual research is important.

The forex sum is a increasing function of time and what this also implies is that its possible for everyone to be profitable in this game.

it means total money is a constant. so if someone profits a buck, then someone must lose a buck. Thats zero sum. Everybody cannot be profitable in zero sum. However the non zero sum systems its possible for everyone to be profitable.
