Pointer issues in MT5 ?

1
I had a problem in MT5, some values that were modified inside an overriden function but the change wasn't persisting in the mother code

so I scatched my head for a few hours trying to find the issue (with teh help of *every* known LLM lol

but then I restarted MT5 just to be sure, and voilà ! it worked

also in some backtests I had some very high drawdowns sometimes (100% DD !) for just a few seconds....reason : unknown

so I guess MT5 is pretty buggy, and maybe it's because I forced it to close a few times when it became stuck ?

so...

do you have issues with pointer s in MT5 ? and just prefer to return values (more solid apparently)

so now my code returns values instead of using fancy, but buggy, pointers.... (I still use them but...)
