Looking pretty certain now that there will be no deal over the Ukraine conflict.

The claimed attempted attack on Putin's residence seems to be the tipping point.

The Russians said 91 drones were aimed at Putin’s residence. The US said it never happened, then they said (not coincidentally by the CIA not the US military, and reported by the NYT) it did happen but was actually aimed at a military target close by.

But the only military target close by is a nuclear weapons command bunker and if that’s the case it wasn’t the Ukrainians behind the attack but the CIA testing Russian nuke attack defences.

The Americans then decided to shut up altogether and Trump now just says there was no attack. So the Russians handed over one of the salvaged drone’s targeting modules which the US has so far ignored.

The Russians are now discreetly indicating there will be no further attempts to come to a negotiated settlement with the Trump team and Trump told the press he is very angry with Putin over the whole debacle.

The Russians are not too concerned as they are achieving their goals on the battlefield, and know how not to trigger NATO in doing it, the Russian negotiating thrust was all about just bribing Trump with future money making deals which is all Trump is actually concerned with anyway.

Trump’s only other concern was to avoid a sudden Saigon type Ukrainian collapse being blamed on him but now he feels he has been seen to have tried as hard as needed and if he fails he can still just blame Biden.

As said in the last post, the US is giving up on the hot war anyway and is now concentrating on getting ready for a new asymmetric war with Russia (the CIA’s speciality).

Three letter agencies take over, asymmetric warfare

European countries suffering industrial devastation for anti-Russian hysteria.

Finland and Poland follow Germany and the UK towards economic ruin for their continued anti-Russian stance.

They all thought the Ukraine war and sanctions against Russia would lead to a quick Russian defeat, the installation of a new Western friendly Russian government and a resumption of cheap Russian energy.

But now they are all stuck and scrambling to secure energy from new suppliers driving the price up and so crippling their own national industries.

Instead of just rolling over, the Russians are now taking a tit-for-tat stance and cutting pipelines into Europe that were still supplying gas causing even greater harm to individual countries, increasingly so now that they have secured alternative markets in Asia and India and the Trump admins failed attempts to prevent it.

Finland’s Stubb was very critical of Putin and even advised Trump to escalate against Russia has now drawn back seeing the economic harm the stance is causing Finland as Russia closes down economic and diplomatic cooperation.

Throughout western Europe energy costs are up 30% including in the UK who never even imported Russian energy. Industries are shutting down not just in Germany but throughout the entire region.

On the battlefronts there seems to be a relative lull due to the holiday period combined with bad weather, cold and snow.

The orthodox Christian Christmas yesterday and freezing temperatures have led to a lull in the fighting in Ukraine.

In the meantime the Europeans have been working at fever pitch to come up with a peace plan that is totally acceptable to themselves while being totally unacceptable to the Russians.

This is such a tried and tested routine by now it's impossible to believe it’s not a deliberate ploy for the continuation of hostilities.

The US couldn't be bothered to participate so they just sent Witkoff along to refuse to sign any nonsensical plan the Europeans came up with, so inevitable the whole charade has become.

The Americans are obviously drifting away from Project Ukraine, there's not going to be any win for them there so it's time for them to move on.

The Europeans are in the driving seat now and so have come up with all kinds of fantastical schemes involving tons of money that doesn't exist and security guarantees they can't keep and future deployments of troops they don't have.

It would all be so wonderful if only any of it was real.

The threat of NATO forces in Ukraine was the reason for the start of the conflict in the first place.

The Coalition of the Retarded in their final communique state that once the conflict ends then European troops will occupy Ukraine as peacekeepers, which in the real world, will guarantee the conflict will never officially end.

As the US takes a step back so too is the world's media attention.

Ukraine is at risk of becoming just another forgotten war that slowly grinds on to its inevitable conclusion in silence while the rest of the world is looking elsewhere.

The Russians will, at some line on the map, come to rest and set up defensive lines, who knows where. The 8 Eastern oblasts, or the Dnipro river, or the old Novorossiya borders?

They certainly don’t want western Ukraine and have again hinted recently that maybe the Poles can take over the dysfunctional rump state.
