Ukraine is going to run out of money very soon, possibly as soon as February. Belgium based Euroclear put out a statement over the weekend clarifying their position. This is the organisation that handles payments between countries and where most of Russia’s frozen assets are held.
In the statement they said that any attempt by EU organisations to take the money would absolutely be illegal and they would have to fight any such move through the courts.
They also pointed out that if the assets were moved the damage to Europe's reputation would be catastrophic and put at risk the 40 trillion euros worth of business Euroclear handles in a year.
Euroclear also said that so far only the interest on the assets have gone to be used for loans to Ukraine but none of the capital. But they noted that funds held in other European countries had been taken by the EU.
This explains the discrepancy noted by many commentators who have said that the interest alone would not have been enough to cover the amount of loans given to Ukraine.
The bottom line would appear to be that the EU commission is not going to get their hands on the money without a long drawn out fight. That paired with the Trump admin refusing to give anymore money to Zelensky and the EU countries inability to raise large amounts any other way means that Ukraine will not get more than drips and drabs of monetary aid for the foreseeable future and certainly nothing like the $250 billion Zelensky says is needed over the next 2 years.

In a latest poll Zelensky’s popularity has slipped 40% and is now below 20% approval rating. Given that we have known for a long time now that the official polls were fake and instead of an approval rating of around 70% true polls showed he had already slipped below 20% months ago.
Given that now even the fake polls are showing Zelensky is below 20% is a sign Zelensky is in real danger of being dumped.
This follows the corruption scandal that was uncovered by the US founded NABU, the anti-corruption organisation.
And now the US has sent FBI agents to Ukraine for further investigations.
Meanwhile, People's Deputy Roman Kostenko on the YouTube channel "Great Lviv Speaks" says;
“The situation with mobilization evasion in Ukraine is critical, with 80% of conscripts fleeing training centers, and over time the number of evaders may equal the size of the active army.”
These 2 stories show that faith in the Zelensky regime has completely collapsed at home. No one wants to fight this war anymore, no one supports Zelensky and his determination to keep fighting this war anymore.
Victor Orban's recent trip to Washington and the presser with Trump shows that Trump has flipped (again) and no longer supports Zelensky (again). Could this be Trump’s last flip on the issue? Who knows.
What is becoming clear to almost everyone, even casual observers, is that Ukraine has lost Pokrovsk, is about to lose Mynohgrad, Kupiansk, and Volchansk, that the Russians are fighting and will soon control Siversk and Konstantinovka. And will next come to Lymen and Huliapole. Equally importantly the Russians have a lot of open operational space in front of them and the densely packed villages of the Donbas are nearly all behind them.
None of these cities will ever be given back. The west is also starting to realise that, far from collapse, Russian’s increasing production of military stocks will continue for at least 2 more years.
The US is not interested in waiting that long and the EU can’t even hold out this year without stealing Russia’s frozen assets.
There is no appealing to the referee in war, you can only come to terms with the other side and pay the cost.

1895Witkoff (not Kellogg) is going to Istanbul to meet with Zelensky following Zelensky’s announcement he wishes to restart talks with the Russians.
So Kellogg was dropped, finally, as he was always extremely anti-Russian and always came up with plans that ridiculously demanded Putin’s surrender.
Witkoff had always told Trump to accept Putin's offers as being the only realistic way of ending the conflict but Trump always lent Kellogg’s way and subsequently 11 months of ‘talks’ got nowhere.
Witkoff will likely be in Istanbul to tell Zelensky to accept Putin’s latest offer now as it will only get worse as time goes by.

The US looks to be forcing the Ukrainian leadership into a peace deal on Russia’s terms using as leverage the corruption scandals being investigated by the US backed NABU, and also backed up by the US FBI investigation into misappropriation of US funds by the Ukrainians.
This really could mean the party's over. Agree to the plan or be extradited to the US and face prison.

In Kiev people are flying out left, right and center, some to Israel, one to the US asking for asylum and several to Qatar to check on their bank accounts, Zelensky and Yermak are heading to Istanbul to meet Witkoff and a US military team are heading to Kiev to check on the Ukraine army’s situation on the battlefronts and are then expected to head to Moscow.

US Generals are in Kiev to get an agreement from Zelensky today commentators say. So they are not looking for a start to any kind of negotiations, they want agreement now and believe they are in a position to get it.
Zelensky will be meeting with the US generals this afternoon or early evening (Ukraine time).

The Europeans meanwhile are in a massive panic and telling Zelensky not to sign anything (as if the Europeans could actually resolve anything themselves).
I do think that Zelensky is secretly being blackmailed by the US, capitulate now or we will haul you off to a US prison on corruption charges (which the US knew about all along but were willing to let it slide so long as he obeyed orders).
I think the choice for Zelensky is simple: live happily ever after with his billions or live in a US prison for the next 30 years.
I can’t see any other reason as to why the US can roll into Kiev and demand/expect immediate capitulation from Zelensky.
They already stopped all direct support to Ukraine so they must have something else up their sleeve.

And hence Zelensky has been left to talk with Witkoff (the Trump aid who favoured the Russian version of events throughout). Zelensky in the past has been very scathing of Witkoff.
So today could be huge, we may see a Ukraine capitulation within hours.
Trump desperately needs a win following infighting in the MAGA and America First movements and huge poll losses on top of recent election losses. He has finally realised that Zelensky and Kellogg were lying to him concerning Ukraine army strength and the actual state of the conflict.
He knows now that to continue will mean a huge loss in what has become ‘his’ war on the battlefield and so any agreed end to the conflict before that can be passed off as a sort of win.
On the battlefronts the Russian advance continues at an ever increasing pace, in the north the Russian army is just 2 km from Lyman and in the south just 3 km from Huliapole.
In Poskrovsk the Russians have turned the pinch point at the top of the cauldron into a tunnel of some 2 km in length that Ukrainian troops would need to somehow survive to escape.
Tactical experts explain it’s important to leave an opening, you just make sure no one survives if they actually try to use it. The opening gives hope and lessens the likelihood of the enemy fighting to the death amongst the ruins rather than surrender when they are herded to the gap and then see it’s hopeless.
