Trump seems to have botched up international diplomacy again. After denying Ukraine tomahawk missiles that he thought was a tremendous gesture on his part but everyone knew the offer to give them was really always a bluff anyway.
Ukraine never had any means of actually firing them, but Trump thought this great gesture would automatically lead to Russia agreeing to an immediate ceasefire out of sheer relief they were not about to be attacked by tomahawks.
It came as a complete shock to Trump and his entire team of jokers that the Russians couldn’t give 2 fucks about the tomahawks and had to say again, for the 90th time, they absolutely were not going to give up their huge battlefield advantage for an unconditional ceasefire.
If Russia had called for an immediate ceasefire in the Summer of 2023 just after the start of the Ukrainian counteroffensive what would Ukraine and NATO countries have replied? ‘Ha ha, not on your life’.
In the Russian readout of the most recent call it appears Trump was most interested in being able to make some ground breaking announcement during the Hungary meeting such as an immediate ceasefire but without all the bothersome trouble of having to deal with any of the root causes and so the Russians just said no, again.
Trump is as bad as Zelensky for only being interested in the optics and has no concern for actually dealing with problems. Trump is proving to be all ‘dog and pony show’ and no substance, which is why most things he’s ‘settled’ just fall apart as soon as he turns away.
Trump and his entire team are clearly living in a deluded reality and so the conflict will inevitably rumble on.
So Trump just announced new sanctions on 2 Russian oil companies, the snag is that the US and the west stopped dealing with Russian oil companies ages ago so it’s all just words pretending they might have any effect at all.
Reminder that if there really was anything left to sanction, Biden would have done it already. This whole Trump admin is all about bluff first and foremost.
In the Independent UK newspaper msm actually interviewed a retired general that wasn’t on the payroll and when asked can Ukraine win? Richards replied ‘No’. Question; not even if they were given enough resources? Reply, ‘no, they just don’t have the manpower’.
This would seem to be a turning of the tide in the UK, we have seen some honesty from the US press recently but this is the first time in the UK.
The EU are announcing they intend to take the Russian frozen assets. In fact they have already taken half on the sly. They really, really don’t have the money to keep this shit show rolling on but is seemingly willing to commit suicide in the international bond markets to try. It’s almost as if these clowns are deliberately trying to destroy their own countries (hint; they are).
Russian glide bombs are being given motors and can now reach a range of 200km, this makes them a very cheap guided missile. They are very hard hitting and the launch planes are able to keep well out of range of Ukraine air defence missiles.
A very useful addition to the Russian long range fires that completely dominate the battlefield and are inflicting massive casualties on the Ukrainians while Russia’s own troops stand well back.

1844Trump's trying to fix the world using an axe and it's just not working.
Bizarrely it actually seems to be splitting the world in two. The rest of the world will be forced to decide which way to jump, jump towards the old decaying hegemony or to the bright, new but unknown multipolar model.
We can see the price western Europe is paying for sticking with the US, economic collapse. The social destruction that’s also happening they’re managing to cause all by themselves.
And what about countries like Australia once the Russia situation is resolved one way or another and the sanctions against China start rolling in 10,000 at a time?
Will Australia go the same way as western European countries (bankrupt themselves for the US hegemony cause)?
China looks like it’s happy not only to roll with Trump’s (and EU) trade war punches and has now decided to throw a few of their own.
The ‘Dutch’ chip maker Nexperia which is actually owned by the Chinese and produces its chips in China was seized by the Dutch govt as part of the EU trade war on China so China stopped exporting the low cost low end chips which it turns out are crucial to EU and US automakers.
‘The Chinese export stop for Nexperia went into effect a good week ago it seems. It's telling that VW stockpiles for essential semiconductors barely seem to last for two weeks. It's still the just in time not the just in case mindset at work. We are paying for it across the board.’
And of Trump’s boast of stopping 8 wars in 8 months. What he actually means is he’s achieved 8 ceasefires where 2 sides have exhausted themselves and need some time to rest and restock such as in the Iran Israel dispute.
No one is taking any notice of the stage 2 disarming part of the peace deal, both sides are in fact rearming.
And Trump is boasting about stopping wars that the US is a main arms supplier of (leverage). This PR trick doesn’t work when dealing with Russia.
Putin is not dependent on Trump for anything, if Trump can get Zelensky to see sense fine, but if not Russia will just continue to grind out the Ukrainian forces (demilitarisation) and continue to take areas containing ethnic Russian people (denazification).
And the Russian oil company sanctions Trump just announced automatically sent oil over $4 higher and should serve as a warning to Trump not to bother trying that one again.
So after 8 months of Trump resolving the Ukraine war in 24 hours he’s achieved less than nothing. The sides are further apart, Russia has extended its goals and Ukraine’s on the verge of total destruction. The only upside is that Zelensky and his friends are now super rich.
Anyway, Trump’s term report: domestic politics, good. International politics, not so good.
Meanwhile the Europeans have started to turn on eachother.
Explosions at Hungary and Romania oil refineries.
Italy and Poland refuse to hand over suspects in the Nord Stream pipeline bombing.
“The blowing up of the Russian (and German) Nord Stream pipelines, if it was carried out on behalf of the Ukrainian government and/or by members of Ukrainian services, was a legitimate act of self-defense and is therefore not punishable.”
“Why do Polish courts understand this, but German law enforcement authorities do not?” Sebastian Meitz on X
This EU infighting will continue to expand as the EU continues to collapse.
(btw I can see Russia looking at this and saying any attack they make on EU/UK/US infrastructure as being equally legitimate)

1846Zelensky is overjoyed at Trump's latest about-turn on meeting Putin and sanctions.
But Trump has given Putin 6 months while he waits to see if his latest sanctions will be enough to bring down the Russian economy.
He probably knows they won't but he also probably knows 6 months might be enough time for the Russians to take all of the Donetsk oblast and so end the debate.
And with Luhansk and Donetsk off the table then there only remains the 25% of Kherson and 25% of Zaporizhzhia oblasts not yet in Russian hands to argue over. There must be a price for losing and Putin will demand the 4 oblasts in their entirety.
But Trump and Zelensky had better watch out because Putin must be looking at increasing Russian goals to include Kharkov and Odessa.
On the battlefronts the Russian breakout north east of Pokrovsk (the one the AFU claimed they had beaten back several times) is starting to extend further to the north east to make a left hand pincer arm of a giant cauldron forming to envelope the fortress belt cities of Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
Might be too ambitious but getting in behind defences and cutting off supply routes to the whole area would mean a surrender without destroying the cities themselves. Russia might still need to deal with each city in turn but with most of Ukraine's entire army in the region and holes appearing more frequently Russia might start gambling on a Ukraine collapse.
What is clear is that Russia will not be long dealing with the inner belt cities of Pokrovsk, Konstantinovka, Siversk and Lyman.
In the Pokrovsk area Ukrainian reports that withdrawal from Myrnohrad has started but only as far as Pokrovsk so still leaves an estimated 10,000 Ukrainian troops in the Russian cauldron.

1848If only we knew any Ukrainians still living in Ukraine who could tell us what it's like and what the people actually think as the lights are being turned off and the country becomes like North Korea.
I hope they’re not banking on any Western country coming to save them because that was never part of the deal.
Ukraine was offered fast track entry into the EU and NATO if Ukraine became a proxy for NATO and help in their plans to set the stage for a colour revolution in Russia.
Over time the west would be increasingly sanctioning Russia while building and equipping a huge Ukrainian army for any armed conflict.
At some point the powder keg would explode and there would be a military confrontation, that would come on top of increasing hardship due to the sanctions and lead to a toppling of the Putin government.
But it all went wrong, the west has had to rebuild the Ukrainian army 3 more times and now has nothing left to give while Ukraine has run out of manpower.
The US has effectively backed out leaving the burden to the Europeans who really can't cope so Ukraine is slowly falling to pieces.
It all started going wrong from the beginning in 2014. As the sanctions were piled into Russia after the US backed Kiev coup Putin could see that preparations would need to be made for an uncertain future.
In the west however their confidence let them believe they could just sit back and enjoy the show.
And here we are. At some point very soon the Ukrainian people are going to need to act to save themselves because neither their own leaders nor the west is going to.
Zelensky won’t stop until the money tap is shut off and the west will let it roll on so long as Zelensky keeps telling them Russia is hurting.
Army chief Gerasimov briefs Putin;
Russia's new Burevestnik nuclear powered missile with an 'unlimited' range completed successful tests, 1 test flight continued for 15 hours. The missile is subsonic and designed for low level (50 - 100 meters) stealth flight rather than speed. No equivalent anywhere in the world, is designed to destroy 'protected sites' and is highly manoeuvrable to avoid air defences.
The missile is expected to go into full production.
On the battlefronts.
