Ukraine military personnel are turning up on national TV saying the Ukrainian army is very stretched and struggling to hold the frontline. The 44th brigade commander is the latest following on from army chief Srysky admitting that they are outnumbered by 3:1 across the battlefronts at a minimum and in some places 6:1.

This is looking increasingly like preparing the general population for more and worse bad news in the near future.

Another day and another dose of NATO’s Mark Rutte telling us that Russia is escalating and Putin has his eyes on the whole of Europe so we had better ramp up production right away. Haven’t we heard this need to ramp up production before? Like daily since the conflict started. Yet not a single new factory has been built and the reason for that is that they know Putin has no intention of moving west of Ukraine.

Another day and another dose of EU’s number 2 Karen Callus telling us that sanctions are the key to collapsing the Russian economy, as if that hadn’t been tried 20 times already.

The fact is that the summer 2023 Ukraine counter offensive was their best chance and it failed. Since then the Ukrainian army just keeps getting weaker and weaker but these lunatics in charge in the west are so heavily invested they will not stop even as Ukraine is being systematically destroyed.

The European leadership stands up day after day repeating exactly the same BS. They have nothing else except failed policies but just won't let go for their own personal sake.

Another day and Zelensky gets out of bed to pick up another $100 million saying ‘thank you very much’.

The US is now looking the other way with Witkoff telling Putin and Zelensky they have until the end of the year to sort something out or Trump will get really mad. Err, Ok.

Which is why Ukraine just patched up some old fallen Russian decoy drones and fired them into Poland (see video linked below).

Last weekend US advisor Scott Bessent put it to the Europeans that they must impose secondary sanctions on China and India. Finally they came back and said no. As I said at the time such a move would have been suicide for the EU/UK. Their economies are dying due to the sanctions they put on cheap Russian energy, to cut off cheap manufactured goods as well having applied 100% tariffs on China would have been the end of Europe.

If both the US and Europe stopped all trade with China (each imposing 100% tariffs) then maybe that would stop China buying Russian oil but it’s a bluff and the Chinese know it. If China did not fold the US and Europe would have to. The US might survive the lack of manufactured goods (other sources at higher prices) but the end of Chinese rare earth metals would cripple the US tech and military industries. The US already tried this route and failed in the trade war.

For Europe it would be much worse, huge inflation on top of deindustrialisation would rapidly speed up the death of Europe, there could be no recovery, no way out.

Ukraine’s military successes are now confined to their ‘kinetic sanctions’ on Russia’s oil industry (flying drones into oil storage tanks and setting them ablaze). The pictures look great but the problem is that the drones can only reach 10% of Russia’s refineries and it takes the Russians less than 24 hours to put a patch over the tank and restart operations. That’s why the same refineries need to be ‘destroyed’ over and over again.

Zelensky hails victory in Sumy as Ukraine forces hold up a Russian advance. Another new definition of victory and also Zelensky still hasn't quite got the hang of attrition warfare.

The side with less troops should always be trying to reduce the length of the contactline and bunch up the opposition. The side with more troops should be trying to extend it.

So the Russians with more troops can keep prodding the line for weak spots. This will force the Ukrainians to move troops but in doing so create weak spots elsewhere.

So while Zelensky is claiming a sort of victory in Sumy, the Russians are now attacking in the Dnipro region.

The firefighting continues and the defending troops become exhausted running up and down the contactline which is what Ukrainian commanders have been complaining about recently.

As per attrition doctrine the attacks by the Russians are not on a broad front but rather are probes to find a weak spot and become one arm of a pincer.

If successful that arm is fattened and troops there can provide a crossfire to help the second arm be made to form a cauldron. This adds length to the contact line and creates a killzone. The killzone should be kept open for as long as the opposition is willing to keep sending in reinforcements and Zelensky has shown a keenness to oblige rather than order any retreat.

Once the opposition finally stops moving into the killzone the cauldron is erased and the contactline flattened out again and the Russians need to move forward to re-establish contact with the new Ukrainian frontline.

Back in the US and Senators Graham and Blumenthal are back on the sanctions bandwagon because, - because they have nothing else.

Like the Europeans, they have no clue as to what’s going on and what to do, round and round in fucking circles rather than admit it’s all gone wrong and cannot work. Far better the Ukrainians keep dying than these people lose face.
