'We Can't Stop Them' Thousands Of Ukraine Troops Suddenly Face Encirclement In Russia's Kursk:

According to DeepStateMAP.live, an interactive map of the war run by Ukrainian military bloggers, their country's forces in Kursk are nearly cleaved into two, with roughly three-quarters of Ukraine's forces in Russia almost entirely surrounded on Friday.

The New York Times reports that Russia is on the brink of a major victory in Kursk.

Some of the bleakest assessments of Ukraine's Kursk position are coming from Ukraine's own officers. “It’s true; we can’t stop them,” a Ukrainian commander tells the Times.

Reuters:
"The situation (for Ukraine in Kursk) is very bad. Now there is not much left until Ukrainian forces will either be encircled or forced to withdraw.

In the Kursk region, the enemy attacks the region of Maloy Lokna, Lebedevka, and Kurilovka, with occasional success

The situation in the region of Malaya Lokna and Kurilovka is currently the most difficult. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are not yet withdrawing from the Kursk region, as enemy resources are driving it away. Information about the environment is also not true.

Ukrainian paratroopers destroyed a large group of saboteurs.

The command of one of the airborne assault brigades skillfully applied previously received intelligence about the enemy's plans to use the underground communications of the Progress gas pipeline for sabotage activities in the Sudzhansky district. The enemy tried to act according to the Avdiivka operation scenario, using engineering structures to penetrate the territory controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

However, our paratroopers were ahead of the occupiers. A skillfully organized ambush allowed us to wait for the enemy to exit the tunnel and gather near the exit. The decisive moment - and the exit from the pipe was blocked, making it impossible to evacuate the enemy group. Then - destruction.

About 80% of the enemy's personnel were eliminated.

Objective control and radio interception confirm panic among the enemy's personnel: the invaders complain that they were thrown to certain death.

When the war is over, we won't have to invent movie scripts, we'll just have to describe real events and Hollywood will quietly rest on the sidelines.

Is that the Hollywood script you’re referencing? Unfortunately, Fish, it’s the opposite. This is yet another slaughterhouse for the AFU—pointless and with no benefit for Ukraine. Ukrainian lives are being lost without any meaningful achievement. It’s a tragedy.

Trump talking about the possibility of a ceasefire very soon.

A meeting coming up on Tuesday between Andriy Yermak (Ukr) and Witkoff (USA) in Saudi - definitely no Zelensky.

The only way the US can get the Russians to commit to a ceasefire is if they can get the Ukrainians to agree to give up and withdraw from all 4 eastern oblasts completely.

This was part of Putin's demands in his peace proposal in June 2023. If Trump can get agreement from the Ukrainians then Putin will be obliged to comply.

We will need to see if Yermak differs from Zelensky in negotiations, they are both signed up supporters of the Ukrainian nationalist hard line who've always refused the idea of giving up any land at all.

But pressure is increasing on Ukraine as the Russian advance continues and continues to speed up in spite of winter, and a new Russian spring offensive is just around the corner.

Ukraine need to come to terms with the reality that they will have to give up MORE than they have already lost on the battlefield in any realistic peace deal.

The longer they delay the more they will be forced to give up. Russia is collapsing the fire pocket in Kursk. They have deliberately kept this going until now because Zelensky was willing to keep flooding troops into the kill zone.

Reminder that the Russian objective has always been to destroy Ukraine's armies first, not take land. Once the Ukr army is destroyed Russia can then take as much land as it wants.

Once the Kursk pocket is closed Russia will have 50,000 troops sitting on Ukraine's Sumy border. If Russia continues the conflict they're expected to add Sumy, Kharkov and Odessa to their list of objectives.

Once again Zelensky tries to gatecrash a meeting in Saudi, once again MBS tells him he's NOT invited.

US delegation meeting with Zelensky's advisor Yermak. Trump admits Putin is holding all the cards, Ukraine have no cards and neither do the US really. Trump can only threaten more sanctions but by now everyone knows exactly how effective sanctions against Russia are.

Strange goings on in Europe/UK, they really do seem to think they're strong enough to replace America in the confrontation with Russia. They are convinced that Russia is exhausted economically and that, at the end of the day, the US will come and rescue them if they do get themselves into trouble.

They are deluded. Russia's GDP really is over 4% and Trump is clear he will not be triggered by NATO article 5 if the country in question is spending less than 3% GDP on defence (article 5 is voluntary not obligatory).

But why this fixation with Russia? Might have something to do with the fact that western Europe/UK are flat broke and that Russia has over $75 Trillion in underground assets, which is nice.

The Nasdaq index fell 3.8%, losing $ 1 trillion. The S&P index sank 2.6% and could lose another 8%.

Economists also predict high risks of a recession in the US, which threatens prolonged stock market turbulence.

Pro Tip. To upload an X video you need to start the vid first then right click on it and copy url then paste in FS post.

Videos show Ukr troops streaming across the Kursk border back into Ukraine. Looks like Ukr not planning to defend the town of Sudzha but are abandoning the Kursk pocket altogether.

This may be very significant to the talks today between Ukr (but not Zelensky) and the US in Saudi. The Ukrainians need to agree to withdrawing from the 4 eastern oblasts altogether in return for a peace deal with Russia.

If not then Russia will continue to roll on, perhaps into Ukrainian Sumy, but certainly across the rest of the Donbas region further to the south.

Russia is on the verge of taking what's left of the 4 eastern oblasts anyway, but if Russia start new operations, in Sumy for example, then further talk of peace may be a long way off if no deal is reached in the next few days.

New reports say Russia now controls all of the islands on the Dnipro river in the Kherson region and are staging attacks on Ukrainian positions in Kherson city itself.

What Ukraine says it must have from any peace deal, according to one Ukrainian parliamentarian.

1/ territorial integrity, return of all land.
2/ sovereignty, meaning that Ukraine makes it own choices about what army to have, what military production etc.
3/ security guarantees from 3rd parties.

The insurmountable problem here is that no one has the capacity to GIVE YOU any these items on your 'wish list'.

Once you enter a war you are, by definition, risking it all, unless you're able to negotiate your way out by means of a peace deal BEFORE you've lost everything.

But to think you can negotiate a 'let's go back to the start' after you've already lost is just childish.

Ukraine really lost this war some time ago but a refusal by Ukraine to come to any kind of a (realistic) settlement could leave Russia picking over the carcass of Ukraine for years to come.
