MQL ROBOTS : Our opinion (are they a scam, is it worth the money ?)

1
Here is a thread that will check for you if a robot that you plan to buying from MQL5.Com is worth it or not

most robots are a scam and if you have a doubt i'm sure the community can bring their honest opinion over if it's a scam or not

3 types sof scam :
1) the robot stores trading times within the executable (usually they have big files for no reason)
2) the robot is a tick scalper (very little trades in duration) : while sometimes they may work on some brokers, most of these types of robot will fail live
3) The robot is curve fitted to data, meaning it will perform really well in the backtest but will fail with new data. This is a bit like 1) but more fancy

Imagine you have an EA capable of doing regularly 20% per month. Would you need to sell it?

By compouding capital you would have hundred of millions in few years. I think this answers the question.
I have been trading algos for more than a decade, it works but the holy grail, if it exists, is not on MQL market for sure.

The best performing algos are always HFT developments, as the main point to control DD is to stick to very strict SLs and exit trades very quickly.

Good thread!! Let's get it going.......

It's been a long time since I bought an EA on MQL5 site but back in days the expert advisors where so shit there...... Mrtools made much better quality ones here which did what you wanted it to DO. Martingale or not...... the freely coded EA files here are of better quality take your pick but Blessing EA is still my favorite

I know we all friends with some devs on MQL site but I just personally lost trust for MQL market many years now 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Cool, and what are the results / pairs / settings you use? I am working on a scalper, still need to solve a coding issue that goes beyond my skills, but it promises a lot.

I do believe that the EA robots found on MQL are primarily sold to generate profits for sellers. No business minded seller with a profitable EA would risk market saturation, he might rather keep it for private use and avoid unnecessary stress.

There is also the fact that a strategy that works well for one might not suit well for another. Building you own robot that suits your needs might then be an even better choice.

I won`t call them 100% bogus but the results shown might just be reflections of adjusted settings according to recent market trends.

ok I tested further the EA on FOrex pairs and it doesn't work well

I think it could work only well on Gold tho. so it's a mixed review
