The Yen has been falling since early 2022 (couple of months at end of 2022 an exception) as Japan has been struggling to turn the economy around and get back into growth but failing. This latest development is a sign things are only continuing to get worse as the big Japan banks start selling off assets to sure up their books (smaller banks will have to follow suit). Still no light at the end of the tunnel.

But their problem is same as in UK and Europe and the US is following. Decreasing global trade thanks to self kneecapping to implement the Green agenda means less currency is needed to finance trade, so get rid of it, it's only losing value = decreasing demand for currency = outflows into other asset classes (Nikkei). And if the rot continues then from Nikkei to Bonds.
