Prof. Peter Strachan
@ProfStrachan
European countries generating the most energy from wind.
Denmark took the top spot, with the highest contribution of wind power to energy consumption (55%).
Ireland came in 2nd (34%).
UK 3rd (28%)
Germany 4th (26%)

Bunkum!
The UK may perhaps make 28% of its electricity from wind.
But electricity is only 19% of our total energy usage
The correct figure for wind is 28% of 19% = 5.3% - just over 1/20th of our total energy.
You are trying to hoodwink us, Professor.

Re: Climate/Energy News
53That would need a huge number of wind turbines. Where are those?? And the wind of course blows 365/24. I believe this is pure propaganda to divert attention. It's like "Alternative energy....don't worry, we got that covered".Ogee wrote: Mon May 15, 2023 9:58 pm Never forget, they are constantly trying to mislead you.

Are we past Peak NetZero?
54After spending 20 years chasing flying unicorns EU politicians might be starting to wake up?
Latimer Alder @latimeralder
To get to NetZero in 2050, all that oil [and gas] usage has to go.
Its not just petrol for our cars ... but diesel for the big trucks that bring our food. And the big ships that bring our goods. And the ferries that take us abroad.
And all forms of flying.
They ALL have to go
Interesting development
After Germany refuses to ban combustion engines, President Macron of France says 'enough, already' on plans to return us to the Middle Ages.
Are we past Peak NetZero?

Re: Climate/Energy News
55EU completely unable to see their own arrogance and double standards.
Note the language ...
Borell: EU to prevent India from reselling Russian oil to Europe
Should be ... 'EU to stop buying Russian oil from India.'
And so what are they actually going to do about it ... impose SANCTIONS !!!
Borrell: EU will punish India for Russian oil
According to Borrell, because of the price ceiling imposed by the G7 countries on Russian oil, India has been able to use cheaper raw materials.
“The European Union knows that India buys Russian oil in large volumes in order to sell it to Europe after processing. The EU will take additional measures against India to prevent the purchase of Russian oil ,” the diplomat told the Financial Times.

Re: Climate/Energy News
56Yeah, hilarious, isn't it! As you said, the simple statement should be "We will stop buying Oil from India". Where India buys their Oil from is up to them. They don't need anyone's permission. The next step will be to threaten China because it buys oil from Russia and the Europeans need to buy from them.Ogee wrote: Tue May 16, 2023 10:00 pm EU completely unable to see their own arrogance and double standards.

France returns to nuclear
57India should not be selling Russian oil to the EU
Oh, turns out the EU regulations have a loophole written in you could drive an oil tanker through.
Meanwhile France and Italy look to be returning to nuclear (because renewables don't and can't work).

FRANCE FINALLY RETURNS TO NUCLEAR
French Parliament just overwhelmingly passed a new law to strengthen nuclear
Finally repeals the World's Dumbest Energy Plan (worse than Germany) which arbitrarily limited nuclear energy from France's already-built fleet to 50% of power supply
James Hopf @HopfJames

Even historically anti-nuclear Italy, which banned nuclear back in the '80s, is now considering reversing course and using nuclear as part of its energy plans.
The tide is turning.

Ban On Short-Haul Flights
60They told you what was coming. This is just the start.
Climate Lockdown: France Bans Short-Haul Flights.
France has announced an unprecedented ban on short-haul flights in the name of climate change. Where train journeys of less than two-and-a-half hours exist as an alternative in an effort to ‘reduce carbon emissions,’ air travel will be prohibited.
https://thenationalpulse.com/2023/05/24 ... l-flights/
Following in France's footsteps, now the UK is considering banning domestic flights as part of its "Net Zero strategy".
Remember—as stated in the UK Fires 'Abzolute Zero' document—these climate cultists intend to close all but three UK airports by 2030, and all UK airports by 2050, because apparently "we have to cut our greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050".
"In my campaign I'm not going to be talking a lot about climate. Why is that? Because climate has become a crisis, like covid, that the Davos group and other totalitarian elements in our society have used as a pretext for totalitarian controls." Strong words from @RobertKennedyJr
