Pro-Ukrainian channel speaks to Ukr troops who say the excursion into Kursk was a last chance effort but is not going as planned. The say the plan was to flank the Rus forces to the south east but I don't think that's right, seems too far away and think now that the real plan was (as Mercouris said) to capture the nuclear power plant and hold it to ransom but can't say that now that it has failed.

2 waves of Ukr reinforcements were already committed but still only around a thousand men so not planned as a prolonged engagement to take and hold territory.

Correct, they were headed in exactly the opposite direction to Ukr stated goals (Donbas, Crimea) using a mix of their best (special forces) and their last reserves (from the Belarus border guard) - to do what?

Now they are left miles into Russia with all their armoured vehicles destroyed. Looks like another brilliant plan of that military genius Zelensky.

Opening up a new front in the rural wastes of Russia when you have a severe troop numbers deficiency over the opposition is a stunning and brave tactic (sarcasm).

The truly telling fact is that Zelensky's personal military guard is not made up of Ukraine's finest but is actually UK SAS and US special forces, tells you all you need to know really.

Having taken troops from the Belarus border to reinforce the Kursk incursion Zelensky now forced to reinforce the Belarus border. Meanwhile the Ukr troops in Kursk are now trapped in a cauldron. Zelensky was never a chess player was he.
