Analysts did not find geolocation evidence of the "blocking" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, but Putin repeated these statements, in particular on March 14 at a meeting of the Security Council.
Regarding the border of the Kursk and Sumy regions.
Despite any statements by the Podarya military corps, there is no encirclement or anything like that there.
The withdrawal was organized and now allows us to conduct maneuver defense. Unfortunately, not all brigades that performed tasks in the Kursk region have sufficiently qualified command to conduct a withdrawal. Some brigades simply told the fighters to withdraw themselves, and thank God they coped successfully.
The withdrawal was carried out precisely to those lines that were planned by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Syrsky, and the command of the Seversk Special Operations Command. We now control a number of heights near the border, which allows us to effectively conduct defense and destroy the enemy. The withdrawal to today's line improved our logistics, which forced us to withdraw from most of the Kursk bridgehead. The maneuver also allows us to release significant forces that are necessary for the formation of corps and the replenishment of battered brigades.
It is impossible to conduct a large-scale offensive in the Sumy region with the forces that the enemy has concentrated in the Kursk region. The enemy cannot transfer fresh forces to the Kursk-Sumy direction, as he is tied down by fighting along the entire front line.
