;) ❗️🪖 There are no signs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces being surrounded in the Kursk region: ISW refuted Putin's statements.

Analysts did not find geolocation evidence of the "blocking" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, but Putin repeated these statements, in particular on March 14 at a meeting of the Security Council. 🤡

👉🏻 As reported by ISW, Russian military commanders did not reach an agreement on the "encirclement" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Many of them published maps, admitting that the Ukrainian army has ways to reach Sumy region.

Regarding the border of the Kursk and Sumy regions.

Despite any statements by the Podarya military corps, there is no encirclement or anything like that there.

The withdrawal was organized and now allows us to conduct maneuver defense. Unfortunately, not all brigades that performed tasks in the Kursk region have sufficiently qualified command to conduct a withdrawal. Some brigades simply told the fighters to withdraw themselves, and thank God they coped successfully.

The withdrawal was carried out precisely to those lines that were planned by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Syrsky, and the command of the Seversk Special Operations Command. We now control a number of heights near the border, which allows us to effectively conduct defense and destroy the enemy. The withdrawal to today's line improved our logistics, which forced us to withdraw from most of the Kursk bridgehead. The maneuver also allows us to release significant forces that are necessary for the formation of corps and the replenishment of battered brigades.

It is impossible to conduct a large-scale offensive in the Sumy region with the forces that the enemy has concentrated in the Kursk region. The enemy cannot transfer fresh forces to the Kursk-Sumy direction, as he is tied down by fighting along the entire front line.

So to sum it up according to your posts - Ukraine is not loosing, its just the frontline moving in different direction. Priceless :))))

The US think tank the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) seem to think that for an encirclement the Russians need to be holding hands and forming a big circle around the Ukrainians.

This is not so. The fact is that Russian troops have the Ukraine troops covered on 3 sides and complete fire control over the forth.

The only usable road back into Sumy is the H-07 and according to the Ukrainians 90% of all traffic trying to use it is destroyed, so is therefore not an option.

That leaves a Ukrainian ''maneuver defense'' (running away) of troops on foot, across muddy, open fields, under constant drone attack and artillery fire.

Exactly the same situation that led to horrendous Ukrainian losses (that of course went unreported) in many other battles over the last couple of years.

The ISW correctly notes that 'running away' improves Ukrainian logistics in the area but the ISW also seem to believe (incorrectly) that Russia is unable to conduct any large scale offensive into Sumy.

The whole Kursk adventure was supposed to be a ploy to tie up Russian forces but now it's only serving to tie up the Ukrainians who are already very short of manpower.
