Trump wants an early peace deal but is only now starting to realise that's not going to happen because all he can offer is an early ceasefire deal and neither side wants that.
He should have gotten more educated early on, realised the mess Biden had caused and the prodigious lies used to cover it up, Trump could have just walked away, and he may have done but for bad advice at the time from Kellogg.
Too late now, he's adopted the mess and made it his own.
- Now he has little choice but to force the Istanbul agreement with 4 added oblasts onto the Ukrainians.
- Or, he could just wait it out until the Ukraine army collapses and the Russians just take the Istanbul agreement with 8 added oblasts.
- Or, he could end the conflict more quickly by trying to force the Russians out, but he couldn't do that without starting WW3.
- Or he could just stop sending Zelensky all the bullets and bombs he needs to keep it all going.
I think now that Trump knows he's trapped he'll wait it out and hope for a early Ukr collapse. The only problem there is what does he do when Zelensky inevitably comes round demanding yet more and more money?

Reality seems to be dawning on European leaders which is encouraging even crazier behaviour than usual.
They've realised Europe has nothing going for it anymore.
It has no resources as does Russia, and since Nordstream it has no manufacturing as does China, it has no tech industry as does America.
And it has no collateral, no savings, no wealth. All it has is huge piles of debt.
They're realising now too that they have no military either, but they want war.
So now they are going to spend hundreds of billions they don't have, on a war that doesn't exist.
Russia would be a far better partner for the US than they are.
A war between the US and Russia therefore would be very useful to the EU/UK, if only there was some way to start one
Meanwhile the slaughter on the battlefield continues. Zelensky of course refuses to allow any retreat to more defensible positions. In Kursk thousands of Ukraine troops believed trapped as well as up to 30 western officers.

Project Ukraine under Biden trying to weaken Russia has failed completely.
Now Trump is using the ending of project Ukraine to re-establish relations between the US and Russia.
These negotiations are leaving out the Europeans and making demands on the Ukrainians to make a peace based on what Russia has already won on the battlefield.
Big deals are being discussed and there's nothing the EU, UK or Zelensky can do about it.
For example, there are talks on Ukraine getting the Zaporizhian nuclear power plant from the Russians which is needed to provide power following the destruction of much of Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
But Ukraine will be expected to give up a major part of the Ukrainian port of Odessa to the Russians in exchange.
Very interesting developments.

So, Trump - Putin 0:1
Considering that serious Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure
occur on average less often than once a month, the Kremlin's refraining from
them for 30 days (which was the only promise made during the Trump - Putin
conversation) is practically meaningless.
At a closed meeting with the RSPP, Putin spoke about the points
of no return for new territories
According to the interlocutors, the talks on the Ukrainian settlement are now
about the fact that the territories under the control of the Russian army cannot
be transferred to Ukraine. Moscow may also demand that Crimea, Sevastopol,
the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions be recognized as Russian.
If this happens in the near future, Russia will not lay claim to Odessa and other
territories that currently belong to Ukraine, the participants of the congress
conveyed the president's words to the Kommersant special correspondent.
