I know about Hurst's Exponent which is supposed to analyze price action to determine if it's more often trending or ranging
but what are other indicators that could measure additionnally the same metrics ?

thanks

Jeff

Don’t know of any, i just look for highs and lows being broken combined with time spent along a trend line, this kumo cloud breakout histo is a good example, about as accurate as it gets, unless you have some deep learning ai using multiple indicator across multiple timeframes
Also simply a zero lag macd studied carefully can produce great result, always need historical data for future prediction no way around it

first the ADX could be used but I like the fixed range of : Choppiness Index

near 100 it's ranging and close to 1 is trending

Hello,

A friend made this for me a while ago, in 2016

Fractal dimension index :

The indicator is RED when the market is in a trend. And it is blue when there is a high volatility.

When the FDI changes its color from red to blue, it means that a trend is finishing, the market becomes erratic and a high volatility is present. Usually, these "blue times" do not go for a long time. They come before a new trend.

Have fun !

Hello!

Friend* with an asterisk.

There is a lack of the second level (1.37).

And somewhere there is a limit on the number of bars.
This is MQL5, I don't understand it. :lolno:

Hey, je suis parisienne à la base, mais je suis parti très loin pour suivre mon copain, à Nouméa en Nouvelle-Calédonie.
Et toi ?

Hey, I'm originally from Paris, but I moved far away to follow my boyfriend, to Nouméa in New Caledonia.
And you ?
