Mayor of Kiev Klitschko encourages, those who can, to evacuate Kiev due to major power and water supply failures. The utility supplies are under severe strain and repairs are not possible due to lack of spare parts.
Of course Zelensky is telling everyone to stay (in minus 10 C temperature with no power or gas) for the sake of defiance and the look of the thing, or whatever.
Same as after the first Oreshnik missile strike on Ukraine there has been a news blackout after the second strike. There are reports that the target was not the gas storage facility but rather an air force base close by.
On the battlefronts the city of Konstantinyka is 50% taken by Russian troops. And further north Lyman city supply lines from the north have been cut off as Russian troops enter the southern section of the city.
After these 2 fortified cities there is just Kramatorsk and Sloviansk neither of which are heavily fortified having been found to be relatively indefensible positioned as they are on valley floors surrounded by hill top fire positions.
Some reports say the Russians may capture all of the Donbas within 6 months.
Zelensky goes back to Washington this week to finalise security guarantees both he and the US know are completely unacceptable to the Russians (so what’s the point?) The plan mostly centers on after there is a ceasefire but the plans themselves actually guarantee there won’t be a ceasefire
There have been several reports now that the attempted drone attack on Putin’s residence was set up by the US as a decapitation strike. Reports say that Putin was told by the Americans to stay put and wait for a phone call but Putin moved to another location before the drones were launched.
It is true that the Russians are furious over the incident, much more so than after the attempted drone attack on a helicopter Putin was in several months ago.
And going back to the confusion of the intended target, the US first denied the attack happened then said it was aimed at a military complex close by. But the Russians are saying the only possible military target was the bunker for Putin’s use, close to his home, in the event of a nuclear attack.
The Russians are not even talking about any further negotiations with the Americans anymore.

Everyone seems to be winning in this Ukraine war.
The Europeans are hopefully heading for a share of Russian assets.
The Americans are boosting their MIC and getting invaluable insight into modern warfare.
Zelensky and his cronies are getting rich beyond their wildest dreams.
Putin is getting all of the Russian speaking eastern territories of Ukraine.
The people of Ukraine seem to be the only ones missing out.
They've currently got the lowest birth rate and the highest death rate of any country in the entire world.
On top of that half their population has been displaced, never to return.
Still, what do you expect, war can't be all winners.
And obviously if they were really upset about it they would actually do something.
You have to wonder why they let Zelensky carry on, especially considering he has absolutely no plan on how to reverse the disastrous direction of the war whatsoever.
So Zelensky just carries on begging for more money though he knows there's nothing left to buy, that’s why there is no more talk of tanks or Patriot missiles or F-16s.
The West is out of weapons and equipment except what dribbles off the production line, they keep saying that they really should increase production but they never do.
They have their own serious financial problems and after all, they know Putin isn't really going to invade a NATO country so what the hell.
Meanwhile the Ukrainian authorities have started to evacuate people from the southern parts of Zaporizhzhia city as the Russian army continues its push north.
An interesting development comes from Iran where it is believed that with Russian and Chinese help the Iranian govt were able to shutdown Starlink throughout the country during the mass protests there.
The Ukraine army is heavily dependent on Starlink for their comms, which doesn't bode well for the future.
And the EU/UK leadership clowns want even more war, they want to send troops to save Ukraine, so long as they can stand behind US troops.
But they also want to send troops to save Danish Greenland from … err US troops.

The diversions of Venezuela, Iran and Greenland sees Ukraine disappearing from the news cycle. It’s getting harder to find new news to report as other conflicts get more and more attention.
No talk of negotiations and no talk of weapons, missiles or equipment going to Ukraine any time soon.
The EU, having seen their plan A to steal the Russian money fail then switched to plan B, raising loans via a bond offer which they haven’t even started to set up yet let alone see any money come in.
On the NATO war front everything has been stripped down to just a need to attack Russian shipping but with no realistic means of doing so. Oil tankers ready to ship oil under a Russian flag number in the many hundreds.
NATO doesn't have the capacity to make a dent trying to seize or sink them and that’s even before the Russian navy starts convoys.
And now that the NATO countries have made piracy OK the Russians have started an Odessa blockade by drone striking international shipping going in or out and so cutting Ukraine’s main international trade route.
When the Russians previously tried this there were protests from their friends in the global south (China and India + African countries) but not a word from them this time round.
Maybe the European leaders see the writing on the wall? Talk of talks with Putin, first time ever since 2022 have been suggested by Macron and Meloni.
Karen Kallas with her intense Russiophobia (the trait that got her the job of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy) is definitely not being put forward to lead the diplomatic effort.
It’s also been reported that Putin keeping a low profile over the Xmas break is linked to the alleged drone attack on his residence.
The Russians firmly believe that there was a decapitation attempt on Putin but there is also speculation that Trump really didn’t know anything about it.
There is also speculation in Washington that Trump also didn’t know about the attacks on Hamas officials during peace talks in Qatar or about the attempted decapitation strike on the Iranian leader, also during peace negotiations, either.
Some are saying that the CIA has taken over all of these operations and are working without any presidential admin oversight at all, an out of control rogue organisation.
The CIA don’t seem to believe in the Russian’s ‘dead hand’ setup that if such a strike was successful then all their nukes would automatically be launched without any human intervention.
Back to Ukraine and the new minister of defence, an IT specialist, announces in parliament that 2 million are evading mobilisation and that 500,000 are AWOL or deserted. So we can see where he's heading.
