Ukraine's allies fear that its military support will soon reach the limit, especially against the backdrop of the situation around the US presidential election - Financial Times

US officials say the pre-approved funds are enough to support Kyiv for about another 5 months. But European allies are increasingly doubtful whether the US will be able to accept a new package similar to the one accepted in 2022 for $48 billion.

Offering UK and EU citizenship to Middle Eastern and Africans in return for serving in the Ukrainian counteroffensive??

Meanwhile, absolutely appalling conditions in Crimea under the jackboot of Russian tyranny.

There is no need to evacuate the residents of Energodar and employees of the Zaporozhye NPP.
Ukrainian troops have missed the chance for a counteroffensive in the Zaporozhye region, they have no chance of success.

National security experts: War in Ukraine is an ‘unmitigated disaster’.

An open letter calling for a swift diplomatic end to the war in Ukraine was published on Tuesday in the New York Times. The letter’s 14 signatories consisted mostly of former U.S. military officers and other national security officials

Bakhmut

393
The end of the battle for Bakhmut is in sight, the Ukrainians hold only one more street. Behind it there are only a few garages and about two kilometers of empty space to the next village of Ivanovskoye, which is under the control of the Ukrainians. Russian forces announced yesterday that their troops have reached the western parts of the city and that they are "250 meters from victory".

Good question, Russians made a good job of Mariupol but nowhere near same level of devastation.

Ukraine out of Ammo until 2024

397
Ukraine's lack of ammunition problem is a lot worse than first thought and can't be addressed until 2024

There is growing evidence that for the remainder of 2023, the West in general and the U.S. in particular likely do not have sufficient on-hand stocks of key weapons and ammunition to match what has been provided to Ukraine over the first 14 months of the war.

On Tuesday (09/05/23), the United States announced yet another tranche of military support to Ukraine, this time in the form of a $1.2 billion package.

What is key about this promised support is that it was not given under the Presidential Drawdown Authority, but the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

The difference in the two programs is significant and has ominous implications for Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) operations through the rest of this year, especially following the outcome – win, lose, or draw – of the upcoming Ukrainian offensive.

The drawdown authority means Biden can order the immediate delivery of existing U.S. weapons and ammunition, meaning they can, in theory, be delivered to the battlefield within weeks.

The security assistance initiative, on the other hand, means contracts must be written, publicized, undergo a bidding process, and then defense contracting companies that win bids must produce the ammunition or military gear, sometimes taking years to complete.

This means Ukraine will not see the primary benefits of this latest round of U.S. support until at least 2024.

InfoZelensky absent since April

More Russian strikes on Ukrainian equipment depots and growing speculation that the extensive list of targets must have come from someone in the Ukrainian camp. Zelensky's already as paranoid as hell and this won't help.

Zelensky probably hasn't set foot in Ukraine since April.

Next stop on his world tour is the G7 meeting in Hiroshima

Meanwhile there isn't going to be a Ukraine counteroffensive and what we are waiting for is Russia's Spring Offensive.

It seems that Ukrainian officials have only just realised they've started a fight with a country 16 times their size.

The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can lead to huge losses, said Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK Vadym Prystaiko.

" I know that this can be a very terrible summer and the price that Ukraine will pay is terrible ," the diplomat said in an interview with ITV.

He said that the West has high expectations from the counteroffensive, which "puts pressure" on the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Prystaiko refused to disclose information about the losses of the Ukrainian army.

“On an internal level, we understand how many of our people have already died or are missing. We understand that it will be extremely difficult to fight a country that is 16 times our size

Maybe Zelensky can see the writing on the wall?

Zelensky has proposed holding a peace summit on Ukraine next week in Hiroshima, reports the Financial Times.

Oh wait, no he can't

The leaders of the G7 countries will discuss the proposal of the Ukrainian president to consider a "peace formula" that provides for the withdrawal of Russian troops and the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Meanwhile Ukraine's ''kill list'' gets longer.
