And the Western Media..... :lmao: :D

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian air defenses thwarted an intense Russian air attack on Kyiv early Tuesday, shooting down all 18 missiles aimed at the capital with the help of Western-supplied weapons, officials said.

Loud explosions boomed over Kyiv as the nighttime attack combined Russian missiles launched from the air, sea and land in an apparent attempt to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defenses. No casualties were reported as Western-supplied weapons helped fend off the assault.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov cheered the display of defensive prowess, calling it in a tweet “another unbelievable success.”

Ukrainian commanders say that recent military advances around Bakhmut are achieving the goal of engaging and exhausting Russian forces as Kyiv prepares to launch an offensive elsewhere. WSJ yesterday

The reality is that the 5 days of counteroffensive around Bahkmut failed and the Russians are clearing out the last remaining few streets and have finally blown the bridges that allowed Ukrainian supplies and reinforcements into the city for the last 9 months. The bridges had been deliberately left intact because Bakhmut was the focal point for the Ukraine forces and allowed Russia to concentrate it's firepower and destroy much of Ukraine's army over winter.

Ukraine attempt to push Russian forces back 11/05/23:

As of yesterday Wagner took full control over Cherema microdistrict and most of 18th microdistrict. Clashes with Ukrainian Army are taking place in the first buildings of Novyi microdistrict.

The British government has announced that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Dutch leader Mark Rutte have agreed to form an "international coalition" to help procure F-16 fighter jets for Ukraine.

A Downing Street spokesman said Sunak and Rutte "will work to build an international coalition to provide Ukraine with combat aircraft, providing support in everything from training to the purchase of F-16 aircraft."

(The problem is that not only are our politicians morons, so are the heads of the military.)

[They] appear to neglect the all-important consideration of the logistical imperatives of deploying western air power in a high-intensity conflict. I'll mention just a few:

F-16s (and all western aircraft, for that matter) can only fly from pristine runways, of which none remain in Ukraine.

They are also very maintenance-intensive, requiring a fully equipped base from which to operate.

And if they try to fly from Poland, Romania, or the Baltics, they will absolutely require refueling, and those tankers will be easily destroyed.

Lastly, they would absolutely depend on airborne ISR to operate in a high-intensity battlespace. All western ISR platforms would also be big, fat, slow targets for long-range Russian missile strikes. They would quite literally be annihilated within days of the commencement of hostilities.

For the sake of the pilots who will surely die, I pray the damn fools don't yield to the temptation to put Russian integrated AD (and their air force) to the test against either Gen4 or Gen5 western aircraft, because it will end in fire, wreckage, blood, and ashes. And the longstanding myth of US air power supremacy will be permanently shattered.

Absolutely amazing, these residents of Kiev barely know there's a war on and don't care that much about it either.

Shows how careful Russia have been selecting targets but if the UK and the US keep escalating these people are in for a real shock.

I keep seeing vids of Kiev nightclubs full to overflowing, I think I'll start reposting some of them.

Ok, this is getting a bit more complicated, apparently Kiev is a Russian speaking city and apparently the interviewees start replying in Russian then stop mid word in panic to switch to Ukrainian thinking they are about to get into a lot of trouble.

Arestovich:
- Kiev is a Russian speaking city
- The decision to attack the Russian language was wrong
- This caused the Donbass uprising.

The thing is: they are replying in Russian, then in the middle of a word they realize that the interrogator may be against it (and probably even can do harm to them) and switch into Ukrainian while trying to create a proper patriotic answer.
