About the "almighty" HIMARS...

Ukrainska Pravda

The HIMARS artillery missile systems in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces have become less effective in recent months due to intense Russian electronic jamming.
Source: CNN, citing its sources

Quote: "Russia has been thwarting US-made mobile rocket systems in Ukraine more frequently in recent months, using electronic jammers to throw off its GPS guided targeting system to cause rockets to miss their targets."

Details: HIMARS medium-range missile systems were recognised as game-changers and played a vital role in the war, but now they have become less effective due to the occupiers’ actions.

CNN sources state that this is forcing a search for ways to tweak the HIMARS software to counter Russia's growing jamming efforts.

"It is a constant cat-and-mouse game of finding a countermeasure to the jamming only to then have the Russians counteract that countermeasure. And it is not clear how sustainable that game is in the long term," said an anonymous Pentagon official.

Given the anticipated counteroffensive, solutions that will help Ukrainian troops make significant advances become even more of a priority.

"It's one thing to be able to hold the Russians off where they are right now. It’s another thing to drive them out," said retired US Army Brigadier General Steve Anderson.
That "primitive" Russians... don't give up!

Postponed due to a weather forecast of bit of rain apparently.

UAF general Sirski postponed the counter-offensive again, the weather has changed drastically and rains are once again forecast for Bakhmut.

Though they have started shelling Kherson.

Armed Forces of Ukraine conduct massive shelling of New Kakhovka.
Novaya Kakhovka, Kherson region, and nearby settlements were subjected to massive artillery fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Reported by the administration of the city district.

But western expectations are too high.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov said that the expectations of Kiev's allies from the counteroffensive are too high.
In a statement to the "New York Times", he said that these expectations were exaggerated and added that this was one of the main reasons for his concern.

Meanwhile Ukraine forces seem quite keen to get out of Bakhmut rather than attack it in a counteroffensive.

Robert Kennedy Jr. explains the truth on Ukraine War

2 excellent podcasts by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. uncovering the truth of the Ukraine war. (RFK Jr is currently running for the Democrat party leadership)

From April the 7th. With Scott Ritter on the Ukraine war and the wider global geopolitical scene past and present with some very interesting asides on JFK during his presidency. Not difficult to see why the Kennedy family feel the CIA were involved in his assignation.

And from May 6th (yesterday) with Col Douglas Macgregor on the Ukraine war cause, present situation and probable outcomes.

Sounds to me this war is pretty much over and we're just waiting for Zelensky to start negotiating terms.

Expectations from Ukrainian counter-offensive are overestimated - Ukraine Defence Secretary Reznikov told the Washington Post

“Most people are waiting for something big, which can lead to emotional disappointment. Western partners told me that now they need the next example of success, because we have to show it to our peoples ... But I cannot tell you what the scale of this success will be "10 kilometres, 30 kilometres, 100 kilometres, 200 kilometres?"

"Ideally, the offensive should cut the rear lines of Russian troops and reduce their offensive capabilities," the Ukrainian minister said.

The Ukrainian authorities and the military cannot find a common opinion on the advisability of a counteroffensive, so it is constantly being postponed. This was stated by the expert of the International Institute for Humanitarian and Political Studies, political scientist Vladimir Bruter.
“ The military says that they do not believe in a particularly successful counter-offensive, and it is associated with too much risk. And the political part believes that the counteroffensive is mandatory, at least for the sake of the picture. They have different views on this problem ,” Vladimir Bruter said.

Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik says UAF counteroffensive may drag on for several months.

The West is waiting for the failure of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to put pressure on Ukraine in order to freeze the conflict and reduce military-financial assistance.

If the counteroffensive is not successful enough or does not lead to the expected results, the level of support for Western partners may decrease, which in turn will lead to increased pressure on Ukraine, in terms of starting negotiations with Russia and agreeing to the option of freezing the conflict,” Bortnik said.

Now that China has entered the negotiation, it will come to a head. I think, by the end of the year, we will be talking about negotiating processes and even actual negotiations: former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger talked about the Russia-Ukraine conflict in an interview with CBS News.

👀🤔😂😂

The Pentagon has confirmed that Ukraine intercepted a Russian hypersonic missile using the Patriot system, CNN reports, citing sources.

According to the source of the channel, this case was the first real confirmation of the ability of the Patriot system to stop hypersonic missiles, previously it was only a theoretical possibility, but now it is a reality.

The source also claims that the Pentagon praised this event as an important achievement.

Earlier, the command of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that on the night of May 4, the Patriot system managed to intercept a Russian Kh-47 (Dagger) missile fired from a MiG-31K

The counteroffensive.

Oh FFS, we've missed it apparently.

The Telegraph: writes that Russian "smart bombs" thwarted the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and now Kiev will have to revise the campaign plans.

Glide bombs are equipped with "wings" to give them extra range, and fly low and far enough to evade some air defences , the newspaper notes.
Radars do not always pick up objects flying at low altitude, and the small size of glide bombs makes them difficult to detect.
