The problem you face ....the indicator disappearing...is how metatrader loads data in cache...
If you trade the M1 and have there the indicator attached....
You need to have also open the timeframes M5 M15 M30....THE three above timeframe from the one you trade!!!
This works well for live data

2 in stategy tester... the index doesn't work cause there is only one instance of historical data...that you can have open at a time

An advanced stategy...
Let's say you trade the M1...the indicator is showing the three above timeframes M5 M15 M30....
FOR a short trade...(for a long it is the equivalent but flipped)
Wait for all X's to turn red....
Wait for green X's to appear at M1...while all the above timeframes are red...
Let the green X's fade and then on the second red X...you enter.
This ensure that you enter on pullback!!!

Now for the exit...you look at M5 AND when it turns green you exit

This stategy in 2 days I did 20 trades...and got 83 pips...with the larger win being 40.5 pips

When this stategy fails...it fails on range market ...and it is weak at existing....
Personally I used two range filters..
One, the Ketlner channel at 150 period and 1.5 atr shift...anything that is inside the bands is considered ranging.
Two, a range filter that is a synergy...I used the tilson t3 ....20 period
Any price that is between the tilson and the ketlner is also range.
>note in entering...you can use tilson t3...but make sure price is below tilson and the color of it is red
