Smoothing calculations. Tim Morris Moving Average (Smoothing) vs Jurik and others

Hi fellow traders
Here is a little comparison in between (say it) some of Moving Averages and or Trend following/detecting (the on chart ones) display lines

  • All Moving Averages are using a period 10 and price set to Close
  • The white one is OCN NMA (Ocean Theory)
  • Deep sky blue is TEMA (and NEMA general with depth of 3 - both are same thing)
  • Deep pink is Tim Morris Moving Average
  • Magenta line is Jurik

What i see, Ocn NMA is fast responsive, early trend detecting and always glued to price, comparing to any other, it can be smoothed by so many features & functions such as Adaptive/Fitted within, for example: Prices, adjusted Smoothing Factor, Increasing periods, Filters (price and values) and so on.

TEMA at second state.

Tim Morris at third but it is irresponsive at some points, even Jurik (that is much more smoothed) will detect an early turn in price compared to TMMA which is more lagged and telling it a bit late.

Jurik is at 4th in this comparison match, and is over all the best in a lot of ways, yet it can be faster by so many methods.

Indicator is just a tool.

Use it only if it can benefit you. Leave it if you don't know how to use it optimally.
