On June 4th at noon, the British Embassy in China's Weibo account posted the front page of the People's Daily from June 4th, 1989.
Subsequently, the Weibo post was deleted.




On the morning of June 4, 1989, Wu Xiaoyong, then Deputy Director of the English Department of China Radio International, passed by Muxidi and Gongzhufen on his way to work. He wrote a news report about the tragic scenes he witnessed on the streets and submitted it to the on-duty announcer Chen Yuanneng at 6:25 a.m. to be broadcasted in English to the world. As a result, he was sentenced to four years in prison. His father, Wu Xueqian, was serving as the Vice Premier of the State Council at the time.

On June 3rd in Beijing, outside the Bird's Nest National Stadium, during a Mayday concert, a woman waved the American flag and held up a banner from a high place, while also scattering selected excerpts from the "Declaration of Independence." She was subsequently detained.
