burst! Pakistan's Imran Khan government falls

——Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan ousted after no-confidence motion

After weeks of political turmoil, Prime Minister Imran Khan was ousted after the National Assembly, the lower house of Pakistan's parliament, passed a motion of no confidence in the early hours of this morning.

Acting Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced just before 1 a.m. that more than half of the 174 members of the 342-seat National Assembly voted in favor of the motion of no-confidence.

Pakistan has never had a prime minister serve a full term since independence in 1947, but Imran Khan was the first to be ousted by a motion of no confidence.

Pakistan's parliament is scheduled to meet on the 11th to elect a new prime minister, the opposition leader Shabazz. Shehbaz Sharif is seen as the favourite to lead the nuclear-armed country of 220 million people, which has traditionally been half-military-ruled in Pakistan. Shabazz, 70, is a three-time prime minister Nawaz. The younger brother of Nawaz Sharif.

Imran Khan, a 69-year-old cricketer who was elected Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2018 with the support of the military, faced a no-confidence vote in Congress in March this year, accused of corruption and failure to control inflation by his political opponents. The motion was blocked by Qasim Suri, deputy speaker of the Pakistan Justice Movement Party (PTI).

Imran Khan recently lost his parliamentary majority as his allies pulled out of the coalition, and analysts say there are signs he is also losing military support.

Imran Khan has done everything in his power to stay in power, including announcing the dissolution of parliament and calling early elections, but the Supreme Court ruled last week that all of his actions were illegal and ordered parliament to reopen and vote.

No surprise here. They did that to Iran in 1953 by removing a legitimate democratic government and replaced it with a ruthless dictator, the Shah. The reason? Oil! Iran still has not recovered from that as the US has not stopped meddling with this country since then.
Pakistan got nukes so they need to find another way to mess with this country too.

The only point is, it is a deterrent. Just like for NK. The ones who have nukes, invasions by US/NATO (or anybody else) are most unlikely.
