WhatsApp will block access on millions of phones in November
Whatsapp will stop supporting older smart phone devices and will block those smartphones from being able to continue to use the service in November 2021.
Affected users will be required to update their smart devices, or buy a new one in order to continue to use WhatsApp.
Android users running Android 4.1 or below and iPhone users running anything older than iOS 10 will see WhatsApp blocked on their device.
iPhones affected
For iPhones, all the iPhone models up to the iPhone 4 will lose support for iPhone. This means that those who are using the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6S will need to update their operating system to iOS 9 or later in order to continue using WhatsApp.
Android devices affected
WhatsApp will stop working on smartphones that are running on an Android version earlier than 4.0.3. Not a lot of devices currently run on an Android version earlier than 4.0.3. However, some of the models are the HTC Desire, LG Optimus Black, Motorola Droid Razr, and the Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3.

2What is the reason for it? Unable to continue supporting old systems? Or surveillance related you think?

3I have an older iPhone but will still be able to use it according to this. Definitely need to upgrade in the near future.

4I think for more features they need better OS and that has been not possible on older OS. This is where the holistic growth happens. Whatsapp is too niche and that what makes people to upgrade for better technology.
