Re: 2019-nCov Coronavirus
26Apart from taking a great toll on human lives and health the pandemic is having a terrible effect on finances as well. There has been a pandemic of scams related to the health crisis all over the world. The latest report came from Singapore:
Investors in Singapore lost 22,3 million SGD (16,32 million USD) to scammers in the first half of 2020. The amount represents a nearly 45% rise compared to the same period last year, when scammers have stolen 15,4 million SGD or about 11,27 million USD, reported the local authorities.
The largest amount stolen in a single scam case is 1 million SGD or roughly 730 000 USD.
"Criminals have been taking advantage of the COVID-19 situation to find new victims, by exploiting the public’s fear and sense of uncertainty. This is evident from the significant increase in online scam cases reported in the first half of 2020," the authorities said in a statement.

It is. And it's worse than the same period of last year. Way worse.
