Here is my small contribution how to detect a trending or sideways market : BB 360 (bollinger with period 360, timeframe is M5). Comments are on the pictures. I have tried to make my chart simple, so everyone can understand, ha ha.

I think it might help if you open up the code, change anything, then compile, it will show errors, then remove what you have changed, compile again. This is due to a fault in the newest MT4 build.
