Occasionally there are still good movements but it's mostly whipsaws. What prompted that change, actually?

The traders become either too good, or too cautious

Actually, I was also wondering why volatility isn’t what it used to be few years go. For sure there are plenty of factors involved… this could turn into very lengthy and interesting discussion :P

I've seen claims that people are simply losing interest.

IDK, losing interest seems very unlikely to me. It’s huge industry which constantly attracts newcomers, which should compensate for the potential leavers.

That's a good point. Why do you think the NFP hasn't been as influential as it used to be?

imho ESMA's restrictions on [minimum
margin required ] for retail traders, that probably will be applied from July, will force the market to be stiffer ,
markets participants will be in majority big wallets ,institutions banks etc, highly leveraged small traders will be eliminated for their own good lol,
so it makes perfect sense if we make the assumption that these traders are already on the deck and already started to jump of the forex ship,
if you observe the behavior of the market from march (at small timeframes smaller than 1h-30min) you will notice that something is changed and is not only NFP.

I was wondering about that too, come to think about it. The margin changes should have a wide-sweeping effect.
