I think it was a good idea to do that experiment, definitely proved that there are some clear differences. I was always aware of some of the psychological differences but I see that it goes further than that.

There is always a slight delay in feed from the demo but nothing significant. The main areas as mentioned above are psychological which is a large part of trading. Small live accounts are good to practice with that.

Agree with Samusmus. While not 100% the same it is close enough in giving your a feel for the market and if your strategy is at least possibly one that could work in a live setting. This will give you the confidence to test it live so do so with a smaller live account and go from there. It certainly has a place in learning to trade.

I agree, there are some technical and psychological differences between the two. I still think demo accounts are useful tools despite that, it's just important to know about those differences so you can move on to a live account with those things in mind.

Well the conditions are supposed to be the same but psychology and emotional side are quite different.
That been said it's a great way to learn TA and charting risk free

Yeah right! Traders can learn about emotional management only on live account. Most preferably micro account is best suited for learning purpose.

Best things to learn from using demo is how the software works and getting an idea of working out the pip value. In the early stages of learning anything silly mistakes are often made, by getting these out of the way on a demo account, you can avoid avoid wasting money on the same mistakes on a live account.

Micro accounts are certainly a good transition from demo I think.

Agree with you there for the most part. I didn't start with micro but have some online friends that did.
