I'm not very good at English and to explain, but my opinion is that when you have a period of 10 from SMA or EMA (whatever MA), you're analyzing 10 periods on a chart. Then I would not convert anything according to the calculation of the given MA.

Isn't it rather:
Simple Moving Average = (A1 + A2 + …… + An) / n
?
